If you're speaking in generalities, I think that you are right. As a hard core prerequisite that's not true though. We were on MNF in '95 under the Buddy Ryan regime. Also, the Redskins, Cowboys, Bears and Browns are on this year and they were playoffless last year.

Right. Market size and team following also play huge roles since that translates to ratings. But as a rule, kerouac is right. Playoff teams will get nods more often by far.

What I meant was that playoff teams get on no matter what. I don't know of a time that a playoff team didn't make it on to MNF the following year. I remember that being part of the discussion when the Cards were on MNF all those years ago.

The Browns did make the playoffs last year. The Bears almost always get a MNF game because they're the Bears, and kind of the same thing with the Cowboys, and the 'Skins. The Rams and 'Aints probably get a MNF game because last year was seen as an abberration, and they're especially explosive, exciting teams.

I first bought DirecTV about 4 or 5 years ago. The first 2 years I purchased just the football package and nothing else. I'm not sure if they still let you do that. This year they raised the price to $199, but you have to order before July 31st otherwise the price jumps. You can pay it in one lump sum or 4 monthly payments. To me it's worth it. I put the TV on the back patio and grill out during the games, and friends bring the beer and food. I've known other friends to split the costs to share it. If the Cardinal game or whatever other game you are watching finishes early, it's great to be able to see the last few minutes of some other close games still going on. I love it.

Funny how the generations have changed. As a child when a football game was on, the tv I was there!!!! For these kids nowadays???? Watching a football game takes too much effort  every 5 min can I have a quarter to play a video game????? They don't make'm like they used to I guess:thumbup:

Oops, you're right. I shouldn't have taken that last hit of acid.
