I'm not usually a guy who bemoans that we're overlooked by the media, but looking over ESPN.com's season predictions page: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview10/news/story?id=5493278 was pretty depressing.

16 "experts" and no one likes the Cards. Pretty sad. Also, I'm surprised that Daryl Washington isn't getting more love. If he can cover and rush the passer, he should get enough stats together to put together a case for defensive rookie of the year. The field isn't that strong and it's VERY unusual for a defensive tackle to make a huge impact as a rookie.

I would pick the Whiners at this point...

Unless Coach Whis has become the Dave Duncan of NFL QBs, the team is going nowhere with D. Cavaricci.

Hey you may be on to something. Bring in Dunc to help DA throw strikes.

With our luck he would turn in to Rick Ankiel. Or is he already? :D

Most sports "journalism" is just parroting each other anyway. What has ever changed with them not 'liking' the Cards? Nothing.
However, this transition year gives SF the opportunity to win the West - I just don't want to hand the title to them.

Are you honestly surprised? No one would have picked us to win with Toast and now Derek freakin Anderson is our QB. Granted, I think he has the potential to play like the 2007 version of Derek Anderson with all of our weapons, but to the general media it doesn't look good at all. His passer rating was lower than his god awful completion percentage last season, on paper it looks like we are being led by a train wreck.

I have been around these boards for a long time, even though I don't post very often. I remember back in the day when everyone was negative. It made sense at the time. This team was always terrible. Then the Whis/Warner days came and people seemed to become much more positive. And now, without a single loss yet this season, we are back to the days of whining that they suck and have no chance of winning? Awesome!!!

Unless the Cards win a Super Bowl, they will never be popular. Hopefully, though, their fans may have some belief in them in the future.

Too many players leaving especially Warner for the media to pick us. That's OK juts more motivation for players like Dockett, Fitz & others.

As long as I have been a fan of this team I have become use to it. Could really care less. Makes winning that much nicer.

That is right. The Cards will start the 2010 season missing 7 players with a combined 41 years of experience with the Cardinals. Not NFL experience but time with Arizona.

Hopefully most of the talent brought in is as good or better but that experience of playing together is very important.

I look for a slow start and, barring a disaster at QB, a strong finish ala 2007 as the team gels.

On paper we don't give anyone a reason to pick us outside of homerism and Whiz love. Way too many unanswered questions on this team right now for anyone to rationally pick us to repeat. That said I still have a good feeling about this team and am not impressed by the 49ers. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see 7-9 win this division this year.

Certainly a reasonable expectation...

Historically -- linebacker is also the position that produces rookie of the year:

just thinking back the following come to mind: Cushing, Mayo, Ryans, Willis,

a quick google search showed that 7 of the last 10 defensive rookies of the year were linebackers

This.

San Francisco's chances got better the second that Kurt decided to retire and nothing was going to change that barring a Leinart for Peyton Manning trade. A lot of the press had them picked last year. What did we think was going to happen after losing Warner, Boldin, Dansby & Rolle? Derm's post is spot on though. Make them earn it. If they do, bully for the Mother F***ers.

I'm okay with the Cards this year and the changes made, it's the fans that I don't understand. You would think that we are going to lose every game, D. E. is going to fail big time and our rookie QBs don't stand a chance. "Stand and Deliver."

I don't know why some of you like LIAC will even bother to watch games this year?

I'm not sure why people don't just say ask Whiz what I think and don't post any opinions of their own.

Sheesh, with all the whining going on, I thought I'd pulled up the Niners board instead.

I'll reiterate my prediction. We start out 2 and 3 and wind up 10 and 6 with another division title. I think we peak right before the playoffs and then anything can happen.

With 375 points scored and giving up 325, we garnered 10 wins in '09. Do you think we can maintain that "O" output with DA at the helm?
