No. Just the conversation is the exact same 5 years later. We once again are going to pass on a top QB because he is a hot head with questionable mechanics and a rocket arm just so we can give another stiff a longer look.

Cutler is a very mobile quarterback. Mallet's biggest problem is his lack of mobility and pocket presence (to go along with some poor footwork). His throwing mechanics are fine. Now this isn't to say that Skelton is the QBOF, but Mallet certainly isn't either.

Really. Based on what? What has Ryan Mallet done tonight to make you think he can't be a QBOF. I'm still not saying that he will, I just don't see how people are writing him off after tonight's performance.

Except we didn't pass on a QB in Cutler's draft. We took one that was universally graded higher than Cutler. It had nothing to do with giving a stiff a longer look. Not really the same situation.

The conversation amongst people on this board was the same. That was the point of the bump. People wanted to give Navarre more of a shot because he showed some of the same flashes that Skelton has shown. I and a few others were ready to jump on the Cutler bandwagon, but we were accused of just looking at stats and hype and never seeing him play. I personally wanted to take a chance on the guy. IMO some of the same things said about Cutler and the same things being said about Mallet. Obviously Cutler is a better athlete, but I like what I see in Mallet and I think he has a future, but sadly we will go with the safe pick again.
