Hosts say that there is a deal in place with Dallas that can go down any day now. Not specific with the pieces.

Another tidbit: Kobe's cleaned out his locker, (faking knee injury)

what deal can they possibly do? Howard, Terry and a couple firsts? Is that really good enough to get Kobe?

That said, it better be the Chicago deal instead.

If its true, I'm guessing Dirk is going to LA. In that case, I'm not really scared of Dallas (Kobe, Howard, Terry).

Ok, I'm trying to be objective, but how in the world is terry/howard better than marion/barbosa/atl.

If I'm the lakers, devin harris HAS TO be in the deal or the talks with Dallas end. Seriously, if they trade kobe they are rebuilding, what does a 30 year old point guard in terry do for them.

Balances the salaries. You are aware you have to match salaries in the NBA, right?

i will be absolutely flabbergasted if the Mavs actually trade Dirk away. Kobe, Howard and Terry ain't gonna win squat.

Compare the packages:

Dallas: Dirk+Filler or Howard/Terry/Filler

Suns: Marion/Barbosa or Bell/ATL Pick

Chicago: Gordon/Thomas/Noah/Noicioni/Pick

If I'm Buss, I'd have a hard time choosing between the Suns and Bulls offers. You already know what you're getting in the Suns players and Noi/Gordon but Thomas and Noah can be breakout stars.

The Lakers are over a barrel. Getting value waved bye bye to them long ago.

I cant see MC trading Dirk. At all.

To me, that Bull offer is better. I would be surprised if it is Noah and Thomas though.

And picks!

I think Ben Gordon is very solid and love TT. I could take or leave Bozo the Clown.

A deal of Howard/Stackhouse/Harris works for Kobe, but it leaves DAL with Nowitzki/Kobe/Terry/trash. That's not a team I'm too worried about. I mean, you are virtually guaranteed 75-80 points per game from those three, but does anyone really think that the rest of that roster could ever muster more than 20-25 points total?

As for Harris, why would LAL want him? Don't they have Farmar/Fisher and a bunch of other 1's? Has Harris shown that much more than Farmar (serious question to which I do not know the answer)?

Basically, Howard becomes option #1 in LAL and you run, say, Harris-Howard-Stackhouse-Odom-Bynum and DAL runs Terry-Kobe-Hassell-Nowitzki-Dampier. I don't know. I just don't see the improvement on either option....

Um, it would have to be AT LEAST marion/barbs/atl. If I'm the lakers, I might want to see if diaw really is ready to play ball again. I may want him then as well (maybe swap his contract for vlad).

TT is rumored to have work ethic problems, but I think that just means Skiles is a jerk and can't get along with him.

I call bull on this. But it's still fun to speculate. There's no way they trade Dirk for him, though. That would be a bit silly.

Didn't Harris just sign an extension? And isn't Howard a BYC player? I don't get how this deal goes through.

I think you are right. In the 5 or so Bulls games I saw, TT looked like a pure hustle guy.

It couldn't have come from that horrid P & money duo. They rarely even talk sports (yesterday they spent 15 minutes discussing roller coasters - today it will be something else I'm sure). LA sports radio is just pathetic right now.

2 1st rounders equate to 2 early 2nd rounders, so those aren't worth that much.

The Chicago deal sounds great for the Lakers, but why would the Bulls do it? That's A LOT of talent to give up. Kobe will be pretty much making a lateral move--a team with very little talent moving over to a team, if the trade is made, has only a bit more post-trade.

Kobe should have signed with the Clippers when he had the chance.

This doesn't solve much for the Mavs IMO. They still lack low post scoring, which killed them against the Warriors. I'm not extremely high in Kobe and Dirk playing together. I think Dirk has to be your #1 if you have him on your team, and Kobe would take that role over quickly. Maybe I'm wrong, but I won't fear the Mavs if this happens.

Lakers are not trading Kobe to Dallas without Dirk being involved period! Not gonna trade your superstar for a bunch of role players.
