but Beanie Wells was just another waste of a 1st round pick. Sorry, but you just can't tell me that I couldn't have made better and smarter picks over the last 10-20 yrs than they did.
My Golden Rule of drafting: You never risk a high draft choice on any player with a history of injuries or criminal offenses. You just don't do it. And any player that, for some unknown reason to you, keeps falling way down in the draft, would need to be questioned and researched quickly before jumping on them thinking you got a steal. If everyone is yelling fire and running the other way, should you ever ignore them all and not run away too. There are always other players staring you in the face that can take instead who make your team better. Rolling the dice like that in hopes you strike it rich and steal a player anywhere in round 1 or 2, is just not smart. IF we were talking rounds 4-7 fine, it is worth it to take a shot.
I wish we all would have kept a list of who we would have drafted all those years for the Cards and compared it today. Sorry we didn't, it would be interesting to see. Maybe be should start an ongoing thread this year with all that want posting who they would have picked for the Cards in all rounds. We can look at it each year after the season and before the next draft.
