Coach Green, we must get Sean Taylor, think defense, not offense.

If you are not Coach Green, please do not read this. It is a subliminal message and could addle a lesser man's brain.

But we're sooo close on offense IMO, that Green can make us a pretty good offensive team.

Let's say for arguments sake that we draft Fitz./M-Will.

And then Kevin Jones, with questions about his speed, slides to #33. We draft Kevin Jones.

If that were to happen, I'd be ecstatic. An offense of McCown, Boldin, rookie stud wideout, Freddy Jones, Kevin Jones, and Marcel Shipp would be pretty. Sure we would have to win some shootouts, but I bet $100 that this defense will at least be better next year with the few additions and improvements from within.

Sean Taylor is overrated, and safety is just not that important. I can't fathom the notion of taking a safety when more important positions could be filled. I would rather us draft any of the QBs (of course especially Rivers), WR, DT (Wilfork), DE (Smith then Udeze), Corner (Hall), RB, and OT (Gallery). All of these players play more important positions IMO.

I got to say it sound more and more like there are only 4 guys on Green's list right now and is even more evident as these players are the only ones he has seen in person at pro-days so far.

Mike is a tremendous player,” observed Green. “He is a playmaker. What I like about Larry Fitzgerald, Mike Williams, Sean Taylor, Kellen Winslow Jr. ,they are playmakers. They can get the ball in the endzone, into field goal range, intercept balls, run and catch touchdowns. I think we need playmakers.”

Sounds like we'll stick and not trade down. I like it, especially after last year's debacle. I think Graves understands that you can't trade down and "hope" the guy you want is still there.

If you see a hidden message from Denny Green in that quote above that is telling us who we'll draft, you will probably think the drought-twisted yucca flower stalk outside my kitchen window looks like the Virgin Mary.

He has said this before and is saying it again: he wants to draft a playmaker.
I really don't think this is a smokescreen. The four playmakers in his mind are Taylor, Winslow, Fitzgerald and Mike Williams. IMO he wants Fitzgerald and will take Mike Williams if he is gone. After the first round he will go for BPA but also look at the needs especially on defense.

If he wants a playmaker, that leaves a guy like gallery out.

This little article says so much.
DG has a plan. He is not going to overpay for a LB. They have a certain amount allotted. They have a back up plan in Hayes and Levar.

DG (with Graves) KNOWS what he is doing.

He lays out the draft really clearly: PLAYMAKER.

This is smart well thought plan about what to do in the draft and FA (notice he says after the draft they will look at FA again).

This plan might work it might not (there are no guarantees in life) but it is logical intelligent approach to building a team that will do well in the NFL for a long long time.

This offensive unit is sooooooooooo close to clicking that you first HAVE to put the finishing touch on it before moving to the D.

What makes people think that the offense is close to being great other than that Dennis Green is now the HC?

The only change to a group that finished DAL in points scored is Blake is gone and he didn't even start the last 3 games of the season.

I just don't see how you can expect to take a terrible team add a DE, some backups, and a handful of rookies and expect to be any better than you were the year before on offense.

I guess that you could say the poor offensive production was a result of McGinnis and Sullivan being way out of their league in directing the offense, having 6 new starters, no experience at WR and Kendall adjusting to the center position. All of these problems could be corrected simply by getting a year's worth of on field experience and better coaching.

However, the Cards gambled on their defense being better last year simply because their players had another year of experience. They lost.

I hope they are not making the same mistake with the offense this year.

That comment actually confused me. FIsher is the incumbent starter, and per Wildman Fisher's knees are fine, so I'm not sure why Green said he'd "challeng" and why he talked about if he's healthy? I understand he's not one of the named DG starters and I have no issue with that but the quote made it sound like Green sees him as a backup coming off a big injury and not a guy who started all year for us last year.

I really like Fisher and Hayes, I'm one of the guys hoping Hayes is getting time at MLB too, much as I've backed McKinnon over the years, I think he's on the downside of his career and I think Hayes could be the guy there in the future.

The Republic today said that Fisher's knee is bothering him, and he'll be held back in minicamp.

Outside linebacker Levar Fisher is questionable because of a knee problem. He's expected to battle for the job on the strong side

That confused me, too. Maybe he's just calling Levar out a little? I think that Levar will show his stuff in the minicamps and training camp, and will secure the starting position. If you remember, it wasn't that long ago that Levar almost took golden-boy Ray Thompson's job in training camp. Maybe he got some preventative surgery right after the season ended (players do this all the time)?

One thing that I'm wondering about is if Denny just wants a little more beef on the strongside. It would make sense; Mac (for some inexplicable reason) loved his little OLBs. If that's the case, though, we have five-odd "Will" LBs and no one to take on the TE. Bad news.

Or we could just find a way to draft DJ Williams and put an end to all of this nonsense.

I heard on KDUS that Fisher was seeing a surgeon in Tucson to determine whether he needed to have work done on his knee, and whether the problem was an extension of the problems he had in college.

My vision of improvements this year on offense are two-fold.
1) Denny Green runs a QB-friendly offense, that based on what he has been saying depends on 3 wide receivers as the base offense. This requires Boldin and new rookie(Fitz/Williams(I prefer Roy to Mike)), as well as Johnson or someone else to step up.

2) The movement of Boldin to split end causes mismatches with the defense.
The movement of Davis to the left side causes our best linemen to play together on one side with Kendall in the middle.
