I feel a trade-up is likely if notable players start to slide. However, McDonough could stay put and draft Aaron Holiday. I'm would not be particularly excited about the pick but he does come from a solid basketball family and the Suns have worked him out twice.

In reference to working out Holiday twice.

I'd be happy if the Suns addressed the PG position at #31 and go BPA at #16.
It seems like the Suns are going back to drafting brothers again.

Holiday is projected by Tankathon as the 35th best prospect. He has no business going at #16 imo.

Would be a huge reach if they do this.

I wouldn't be excited by the pick but I'm expecting the Suns to move up in the draft.

However, Holiday knows how to score the ball and he would be a solid backup PG. The Suns need to groom a future starter at PG. I'm not sure Holiday is it.

This is a bad reason to take a guy, but a positive if he was your guy all along...

Ayton and Porter tonight would be a coup. Although I really think the Bulls have Porter pegged.

Moving up for Shai, Trae or Sexton makes a lot of sense. I don't get the Porter move up unless we have another trade in mind.

Do you guys have a top ten mock draft? How do you see it falling?

Ayton
Bagley
Doncic
Porter
Bamba
Young
JJJ
Carter
Knox
Bridges

all of the subterfuge about guys falling is draft day hooey. I think the real drama for the Suns is what they do after #1. They can get another super young talent if they give up enough draft stock to do it. I wouldn't be against it, even if we lose out on one next year. After this draft, we will have quite enough super young talent to try to develop, and need to focus our salary cap efforts toward getting one seriously good veteran PG to be the floor general and guide these guys through the game the next few years while they become stars and the Warriors and others fade off.

I can’t remember who said it (maybe Kellan Olsen) that Ayton/Porter would be a horrible fit and I agree.
If Kellan Olson says so I am guessing they would be a perfect match.

Kellan Olson over the last 3 years has been dead wrong about the draft.

In 2016 he loved Bender, Luwawu those were his candidates at 4. He had Jaylen Brown outside. Top 10 I think.
In 2017 he wrote that Ntilikina is the BPA and best pick for the Suns at #4 while having Tatum outside the top 10 and Adebayo outside the top 40.

I don‘t know what it is with our team and the loudest twitter influencers being such hipsters..

I like these guards too. If the Suns move up for Porter, perhaps they are happy with Payton and drafting a backup PG at #31.

I would almost consider it a failure tonight if we didn't make a big move the hype has just been so built up

But Ayton and Donte would make me happy if we stayed put

The more I think about Holiday at 16 the more I can accept it.

There is not any room for our 16th pick to be a star anyway. Accepting your role is an extremely undervalued attribute. Can‘t have a roster full of young guys trying to be a star.
With Holiday you get a rookie who is not really a reach, probably won‘t have any of the typical rookie problems since he knows NBA life and is turning 22. He knows how to be a pro, that alone and the positive effect that might have on Ayton too might be worth drafting Holiday instead of someone with high potential but maybe bad habits, immaturity etc..

I understand all those points, but your post seems more like a rationalization for talking yourself into accepting a disappointing pick after the fact.

I cant think of a better pick than Kostas at 59.

Alkins, Duval etc wont be on the board.

Agreed. Just think it would be funny if the Suns added both him and Holiday, given their brother history.

Kostas probably never turns into anything. He didn't do much in college. But how many 59 picks turn into anything? And if you're going to pick someone's brother, why not the Greek Freak's?

That's not really slin's style but I know me. You should save this post for later tonight when I will probably earn it once we select Knox or Walker (or Holiday).

How could anyone be disapointed with Knox or Walker? Those are two really good prospects and likely out of our reach.

I made the mistake of watching them play. Had I just read the stories about their workouts, I'd probably be in love with them too. For me, the rationalization, if we take Knox, will be that he is very young - easily young enough to erase some of my concerns. For Walker, I guess I could grasp at the fact he was recovering from a meniscus tear. Of course, that's also one of the reasons I don't want him.
