I like Miles but I worry about him finding a position in the NBA. Regardless, he should be no worse than a solid rotation player wherever he plays.

I almost see Miles like I do Knox as insurance for the PF position.

Calipari made that Knox to Tatum comp too and maybe he's right but Kevin showed nowhere near the instincts that Tatum showed last season.

If the Suns do not move up to draft a PG, I willing to take the risk at #16. I'm feeling he has that potential.

I think Miles is a much safer pick but Knox might have higher upside. Not that it's a deal breaker but those toothpick legs of Kevin's concern me. Tyson got away with his little sister's legs but it's rare.

NBA TV in their mock has Miles Bridges being drafted by the Suns at #16. It's an interesting pick.
I would be beyond stoked. He’s undersized but his crazy athleticism and versatility would demand court time. I could see him being a very effective small ball 4. Particularly with Ayton and a strong and defensive oriented JJ.

I guess I'm forgiving the legs as he is so young. Really never paid much attention.

I'd be excited by this pick as well. The Suns really need to go BPA if they keep #16.

Also about players in the NBA. It teaches to never undervalue draft picks.

That's a lot higher than I would have guessed. I supposed it make sense to a certain degree but still seems high. I would have guessed 35% at the most.

I would have thought less than 10%. Is he talking about just first year players from last year or all players? Either way, it's a shocker to me.

My guess is one or two things.

1. Definitely higher due to expanded rosters
2. Also higher if it includes all the guys that were on a roster even 1 game (guys shuttling in out of G league and off the street)

That's always what I assumed... makes little sense to move up without a specific player in mind.

This is true but the Suns need to lay the groundwork ahead of time for potential trades. I bet McDonough is really working the phones for trade partners if a player slides.

McDonough is indeed looking at trade up options.

Miles Bridges is a raging fire... on offense. Unfortunately he puts little to no effort on his defensive game. Plagued with horrific off ball footwork and below average defensive IQ, he's a massive liability on one end. His footwork might be the worst of the prospects projected to go in the 1st round. He violates every Defensive fundamental principle in the game (I just got back from running a youth basketball camp today so FUNDAMENTALS is fresh on my mind).

It's actually quite weird that he has such a quick first step on O and has such clumsy steps on D. I'm guessing he has the potential to be a good defender with his MAN body and athletic ability. But I'm more than just a little concerned he thinks D is a joke. The risk on Miles is that he'll never care enough to be a good defender. As you guys have probably figured out by now, I have low tolerance for guys who only play one end of the floor. (Book included)

I'm not saying no to Miles Bridges at #16, I AM saying I sure hope someone takes that decision out of our hands before we have a shot at him.

The more I think about Holiday at 16 the more I can accept it.

There is not any room for our 16th pick to be a star anyway. Accepting your role is an extremely undervalued attribute. Can‘t have a roster full of young guys trying to be a star.
With Holiday you get a rookie who is not really a reach, probably won‘t have any of the typical rookie problems since he knows NBA life and is turning 22. He knows how to be a pro, that alone and the positive effect that might have on Ayton too might be worth drafting Holiday instead of someone with high potential but maybe bad habits, immaturity etc..

Totally disagree. Someone with serious potential will drop, so why reach big time with Holiday?

You realize we have #31, and 3-4 potential similar profile PG's that will be available there, right?

There are about 450 players in the league. Ten years of first round picks is 300. I think the average tenure is the league is less that ten years. If all 1st round picks stuck that long that would still leave 150 non first rounders - that's 33%. 42% sounds about right.

Yeah, I suspect that is very misleading. I don't doubt that a ton of teams have 3-4 second round and undrafted guys on their roster... who almost exclusively ride the pine. I would bet that 1st round picks do 80%+ of the scoring around the league.

We're not getting Trae Young. Looks like Dallas will draft him at #5 and trade him to Atlanta for Doncic.

I know Mikal Bridges is a bit redundant with JJ, but I'd trade up for him if he slips past 10. I think he has the best superstar potential that is being mentioned as a possible non top 10 guy. Reminds me a bit of Kawhi.

I wonder if Atlanta and Dallas are trying to prevent the possibility of the Suns doing a trade with Memphis for Doncic.

Yeah, after I started thinking about the numbers I realized he was probably correct. It means less than it sounds like it does though IMO. I'm sure that most of the non-garbage minutes still go to former first round picks.
