Nuggets 123 - Suns 113

Nice Suns debut by Payton.

So, if we add Booker to tonight's lineup, we'd have an entire starting unit that belongs in the NBA.

Payton makes me optimistic for the future. Next year could be the turning point for the suns...It WILL be the turning point.

Rest of the season, look great for a few Qts. then tank it. Suns have a center in Bender.

Really good game by the young Suns

Payton looked really good tonight can't wait to see him and Booker in the back court.

Bender was balling tonight man he looked good

Chriss needs to go to the G league.

It's nice to have a PG going into the draft. It allows the Suns to go BPA.

Payton finished with 19 points, 9 assists, 6 boards and played tight defense. And, as he was nearing foul trouble, he didn't fall victim.

What a good all-around debut. We have an NBA Point Guard. And how it illustrates that Bledsoe and Knight were not Point Guards.

I'm blown away. I wish next season started already.

Most players play well right after getting traded. Nice little boost from Elfrid tonight.

The team shows glimpses for sure. At least the cupboards are not completely empty here. Something to build on.

Bender is averaging 15.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists in the last five games while shooting 54%, including 52% from three.
Jackson is averaging 18.4 points, 6.4 points, 1.4 assists , and 1.6 blocks in the last five games, shooting 46% from the field, though only 25% from three. They are doing it in around 32 minutes per game.

Those are some damn good numbers!

Looking at the past few games, it may be safe to assume Jackson and Bender are not going to be busts.

I see it with JJ, but can we slow
our roll with Bender considering once a year Alex Len seemingly convinces 90% Of The board that he’s worth a mega-contract based on three weeks, then goes back into his protective shell?

Well, Bender is not Len. I am not sure I am willing to judge Bender based off of Len.

Have you watched the last 5 games or so?

No.

Edit: I actually did watch a couple of the last games against the Spurs/Lakers. Wasn’t impressed with any performance in games we got smashed in.

And I didn’t watch the ten games Len balled back in January when people were jumping over each other to say he’d arrived either.

I need more than a five... or ten game stretch, when the team more often than not is getting destroyed... to get me excited about anything.

I mean... people are ready to anoint Payton the second coming... after one game... after doing the same thing with Mike James earlier this season.

Bender has more facets to his game. Len is almost one dimensional in comparison.

Literally a month ago people here were frothing at the mouth wondering if we made a mistake not signing him to a contract extension.

I don't recall anyone acting like that. I know some people were excited he was finally playing to his potential but all of the talk was tempered a bit since he is in his contract year. All of the talk about signing him was about him playing his way out of the Suns price range. At this point damn near everyone had given up on him and acknowledged signing him long term could backfire since he has a tendency to revert back to his former self at the drop of a hat. If you actually watched the games though you'd see why people were excited about how he was playing because he didn't look like the Len that would put together a solid couple of games in years past, he looked like a different player entirely.

Bender is different than Len though. He knows how to play basketball and wasn't someone pushed into it because he's a 7 footer. If Len wasn't over 7 feet tall he never would have played in college let alone the NBA. Bender was playing professionally in Europe before he hit his growth spurt that turned him into a 7 footer and he has a noticeable BB-IQ.

Lol... you are f’n high that people weren’t swooning over Len. It literally happens EVERY year the last three years.

The above is either complete revisionist history.

And literally FIVE GAMES ago people... even the big Bender people... were wondering what the hell he was doing.
