I used "quality" for the lack of a better word.

I was using an example trade where the Suns might be able to acquire a player they like.

Chriss is a young player still under control for the next 3 years. I view him as worth a first round draft pick. What part of the first round can be debated.

Dudley is an expiring contract which allows the another team to lose salary.

And adding a first round pick sweetens the deal. First round picks are getting extremely hard to get and valuable these days.

It's anything but a "pu-pu platter" platter for the right team wanting to shed salary and acquire youth.

Agree to disagree.

As much as I dislike Chriss' attitude and have given up on him being a quality starting PF for the Suns, I think there are plenty of teams that would take a chance on him for a late 1st round pick. I don't think the Suns could get a lottery pick in return for him but I think a playoff team might give up their own pick to see if a change of scenery would do him well. He does have youth and considerable upside still on his side, much more than the typical sort of players selected in the mid to late 1st round. He might be worth gambling on considering he has 2 years left on his contract before they'd need to make a decision to pay him or not.

I think Chriss is worth a later first round pick. However, I was only using him as an example. I am reluctant for the Suns to trade him unless the right deal comes along. It's scary to think what Popovich could do with him.

Yeah, I'd hang on to Chriss and Bender. They are both way too young to give up on. I keep telling myself that ONE of them has to turn into a good player.

If Chriss' attitude can be fixed, I think he would be the one to keep. That's a huge "if" though.

At this point, keep both of them unless a top trade comes along.

The time to give up on Bender and/or Chriss was before we drafted them. Now, we're stuck with them as long as they aren't coaching nightmares or locker room distractions. Who knows, maybe one of them will decide they actually want to be an NBA player.

Agree. I really don’t see them bringing much if anything back in return... certainly not a first round pick of any sort at this point.

It's sort of like raising kids... which they are. Unfortunately we expect too much of young talent entering the NBA these days.

Chriss' regression is the most disappointing story of the season for me. He played really well the last couple months of last year, shot well from 3, respectable rebounding stats, even showed some flashes on defense... this year he has consistently been absolute trash.

He's still really young, maybe it's a sophomore swoon. I dunno, but I hope he looks at this season's stats and realizes that if he continues down his current path he will be playing in China in 3 years.

He’s been decent in these last couple starts. The ability is clearly there, but he just has to figure out how to stay engaged mentally.

I appreciate your optimism but I don’t think there is any way we get ANY first round pick back for Chriss.

Right? To put this in perspective... look at Payton. He’s still very young, was a top 10 lottery pick three years ago, had put up solid looking stats.., and he was given away for a 2nd round pick.

Now, he’s about to be an RFA, but that still means he can’t go anywhere if the Suns or Orlando before him wanted to give him a long term deal, match him or sign him to a one year tender AND Chriss has shown next to nothing.

I think Chriss is worth a later first round pick. Later first round picks are not a sure thing by any means. Plus Chriss is under control of a team trading for him for the next two years before he becomes a RFA. This is what makes him different than Payton who becomes a RFA this summer.

In my example trade scenario, I was trying to point out that Chriss, a first round pick and Dudley (expiring contract) is not a bad trade offer.

I'm skeptical if Bender is worth a first round pick. I don't believe he has showed enough.

Chriss and Bender are minimal players right now, but I still think that both of them have been coached horribly. First Watson and now Triano. Triano has some skill at in-game coaching, but from everything else I've heard, he is godawful at game prep and practicing. It's no wonder with those coaching wonder twins that Chriss and Bender have been useless. Look at Len--the same can be said with him as well. Would he be a better player today if he had a seasoned coach like Jeff Van Gundy throughout his career?
