So of course we want to sign a jackass whose best attribute is that he is decent? Just looking for clarification.

point out where I said we should sign him.... I am just noting there are more than only two possibilities. They guy may have performed very well....I know he did at Oakland,....especially at guard... but for some reason nobody wants to keep him around... maybe he has immense B.O. all day,...or he farts a lot...or maybe he likes to hit on team mates wives....

Browns will trade a third-round pick if Kaepernick will take a pay cut

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the 49ers want a second-round pick, but might settle for the Browns’ third-round pick, which is the second pick in the round, No. 65 overall. The key, however, is that the Browns would want Kaepernick to agree to a pay cut before the trade is completed.

The Moneyball guys running the Browns’ front office apparently think Kaepernick is only worth $7 million or $8 million a year, and that’s what they’d want Kaepernick to take, with the possibility of more money in the form of performance incentives.

But why should Kaepernick agree to that? On April 1, the 49ers either have to guarantee his $11.9 million base salary or cut him free and let him negotiate with every team and give his services to the highest bidder. Kaepernick also has a $1.125 million roster bonus and $400,000 workout bonus due this year, so if the Browns are asking him to take $7 million, they’re asking him to cut his pay almost in half.

If the Browns make this trade they are beyond stupid...oh wait...same ol' same ol'...

They have the #2 pick in the draft and will take Goff or Wentz and should start him from day one. Even the Browns can screw that one up, huh?

If the Browns trade for Kap would they dare take Jalen Ramsey at 2 and then

trade up for Lynch? Hue may just wait and take Cook. They added some nice

front seven parts last year in Shelton and Orchard and they need secondary

help so I could see the logic. They may want a sure thing after all those first

round busts.

Kaepernick is a gimmick at best, and one people have figured out. Sure he can run like the wind if there is a hole. Sure he can sometimes hit an open receiver in a busted coverage. But if those things aren't happening, it's circus time. Can't consistently make good 2nd or 3rd reads. Inaccurate. Mentally beaten down which points to weakness. Plus all the caveats with mobile QB's... eventually they'll take a hit and get injured (and he had offseason surgery)... so those breakdowns seems to be on the horizon. What do mobile QB's do when they aren't as fast? They're gone because they don't have the other aspects of their game to fall back on the vast majority of the time.

The smartest guys in the room are asserting themselves again. Thus... run for the hills Cleveland fans.

They don't need this guy. If they wanted to pick him up as a package backup QB, to throw out there once in a while that's one thing... but a 3rd round pick and a restructured contract does not indicate that. Their gurus want to roll with him at QB.... not at some other position either.

The sad thing is, if they take a QB in the 1st round, it'll screw with Kaep's weak head... but they probably won't have taken that into account.

Meanwhile right now the word is that Browns players are going WTF in regards to free agency. Apparently they were told they would be aggressive and also re-sign their players. Instead they let their guys go and didn't really go after anyone of note.

Cleveland right now looks more dysfunctional then they did last year. I feel bad for Cleveland fans. They'll be begging for Josh McCown or any rookie QB by week six if their plan is Kaep.

Still lots of time, but this doesn't strike me as very good...

...right index finger -- the one he injured almost three months ago.

Also per the tweets on the side of ESPN.COM

Demarcus Ware restructured to stay in Denver

Jerrell Freeman got a three year deal and joins Danny Trevathan in Chicago, and I don't know if I saw the numbers for Trevathan reported earlier but he only got 4 for 24.4 million.

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7472/jerrell-freeman

According to rotoworld Freeman got 3 years for 12 million

Cleveland has some of the best football fans on the planet but have one of the worst front offices in professional sports... oh well, I wonder if we could trade them Barkley for Dansby

Sounds like Wares "restructure" was a flat out pay cut. From 10M to 4M.

That annoys me. I understand loyalty to a team and not wanting to move again at this stage of his career.

But heck, I wouldve given Ware 7-8M. That guy is still a ferocious pass rusher to this day.

A team that just won the superbowl doesnt need favors like players willing to take pay cuts.

Sowell to Seattle. 1 yr. $1.5m

I hope they plan on starting him. Either side. Decent backup. Not a good starter.

May not be as effective as they probably want to use him their way. So he may play worse for them then us (or vice versa).

But either way, the NFC west should be licking their chops at the idea he may start.

Long Time lurker around here, but 1 name that I haven't seen pop up that I think would benefit from a 1 year prove it deal would be Junior Galette. Galatte didn't play all of last year due to an achilles injury but before that, he was putting up some decent stats with the Saints. Sure he had a Domestic Violence case back in December and I believe is suspended for 2 games, but, I think still has some gas left in the tank and could help out our pass rush.

It feels good to step out of the shadows and start posting doesn't it. I lurked for several years myself. I doubt Galatte gets a look because of the domestic violence since Michael heads the NFL committee on this issue.
