Pick # 25 - Miami Dolphins

Vonte Davis - DB - Illinois

Analysis Positives: Rare combination of size and pure athleticism. Chiseled frame. Excellent straight-line speed. Loose hips to turn and run. Instinctive defender who recognizes the action when playing off-man or zone and closes downhill. Rare aggression in run support. Physical tackler with legitimate explosive hitting ability. Can separate the ball from the ball-carrier. Times his blitzes well and can close when the opportunity presents itself. Good special teams performer with punt and kick return experience. Blocked two kicks in 2007. May boast unmatched upside at this position.

Negatives: Not a natural playmaker. Inconsistent hands for the interception. Doesn't fight through blocks with the physicality in which he comes up to tackle. Best in off-man and zone coverage where he can watch the action, plant and drive to the ball. Faster in shorts than on the field. Peeks back at the quarterback and savvy route-runners can beat him with double moves. Was benched in 2008 by coach Ron Zook, creating questions about his work ethic. Concerns that Vontae, like his brother, Vernon Davis, may lack the drive to turn his unique athleticism into NFL success.

They can get a good back in 3-4 round .

Not a chance the team should take. Donald Brown & Beanie Wells can both be starters in the NFL guys in round 3 & 4 fell their for a reason. We need a RB more than we need a back-up ILB, no matter the situation with Dansby.

Vontae is worth the gamble. He's the most talented corner, but has attitude concerns.

Indi and Pats are the two teams I am worried about. After that, Beanie might as well put on his Cards cap.

At first I did not want Wells, but the more I look at it he would not be bad for a #31.

1 Rey Maualuga
2 Chris Wells
3 Clay Matthews

If the Cards draft Brown and cut Edge, then Hightower will end up being the featured back and the Cards will barely make the playoffs if at all. Rey M. is a game changer and none of these RBs are. Big time decision here for the Cards and if they draft Brown and cut Edge we are SCREWED.

I think you are wrong. We don't need an ILB we need a starting RB and Brown & Wells are both capable of being good NFL starters.

Rey's history probably removed him from the Cardinals draft board...he is not the type of guy they take.

Edge is getting cut anyway, he won't play another down as a Cardinal.
