So negative temps again with even more depths into the cold with the windchill factor.

Water pipes froze Monday night causing me to miss work.

Not much snow. Current is -7 with windchill at -20.

Heatwave supposed to come into town after xmas and bring us 20 and 30 degree weather. Joy!

Good thing they caught the Butt Bandit. Otherwise he'd be stuck to a window somewhere in the city. :D

Rainy and windy this morning. They are saying we could get some snow later this afternoon as the cold front moves in.

We're actually pushing 11 inches up here in North Scottsdale! Got almost an 1.25 yesterday... Need approximately .45 more to bust through 11 inches of rain for the year! Based on the weather reports - I like out chances!
\

Well, with the huge amount of rain we've had recently, we easily blew thru 11 inches! Looks like we're done for 2008 and my neighbors' officlal reading stands at a whopping 13.15 inches! Not a bad precip year at all!

Wow, 13 is amazing! I'm going to get an official sort-of weather station this year (xmas present) and I can't wait to track it a lot better.

With my little rain gauge, looks like we finished at 9.35 inches this year at my house...these last few winter storms stayed north a lot more than usual, so we missed out on at least an inch of rain I think.

First measurable rain for 2009!

.15 inches :)

In a few days I'll have my weather station and get it set up, so hopefully I can get some more accurate rainfall totals.

Of course, once I have it, I'm sure we wont see rain for 3 months or something.

It has been raining for most of the day. It has not been a heavy downpour but it is a nice cold rain. Snow on Mt. Lemmon means skiing this week!

Woo...have my own weather station linked to Wunderground! Check out my signature.

Just need to connect the rain and wind gauges tomorrow :)

Excited!

Wind and rain sensors are connected, so we're fully operational :)

Just need some rain now. The wind is breezing along nicely...gusts up to 5.5mph today.

I love seeing the wind vane up there move around, and the little propeller spin...

So -- how do you like the set up you got, Mike?

Really, really loving it. Praying for some rain so I can test that part out, but otherwise, it's been fun.

Granted, nothing is going on, but I enjoy seeing the trends, watching the barometric pressure fluctuate, seeing how low the temps get, comparing my weather station to nearby ones...yadda yadda :)

It's pretty slick.

Easy to set up, easy to use/read, looks solid? I'm still deciding what to get.

Yeah, so far, so good. It takes some time to set up if you want to do it right. You may need a mast on your roof to attach the rain and wind sensors, so that could be challenging. I already had one for an antenna on the roof, so I just took it down and used it for the weather station.

I also mounted the temperature sensor on the roof on a little north wall up there so it's out of the sun.

That temp sensor needs to be somewhat close to your base station in the house so that the wireless transmission is good.

Then you need a serial connection on your computer to log the data. That part was fairly easy...the software lets you set things on the base station.

Hahaha, I was actually just looking for this thread wondering if your rain gauge had started picking anything up.

I thought it would have picked up a little something by now, but it's hard to judge how much it's raining...it seems light, but still dripping off the roof.

Not sure how quickly it updates either...may accumulate a bit before it beams it in :)

I just want to see that first digit change and I'll be happy :)
