Interesting -- between 8:30 and 9, I'd estimate, it was extremely windy, and I suddenly got the most incredible head/earache - felt like someone was high-force sucking my brain out my left ear; it faded out over about 3-4 minutes and was gone. My place is pretty close to you, 82 -- wonder if it was an abrupt barometric pressure change?

I am actually battling a sore throat and ear ache right now Zenny, and so it was hard for me to associate the pain with the barometric change. However, my son and one of my daughters both said they felt their ears popping. My son said he heard on the news this morning that they believe a tornado might have actually touched down over at Desert Ridge. That's less than 5 miles from where I live so, maybe we actually did experience a small tornado after all??

Whatever it was went over my house too. A few minutes before the havoc hit I had opened the door from my laundry room into the garage to check the garage. Had trouble pulling the door closed because of some weird airflow-pressure thing and I knew it was a sign that things were not good.

As it passed over the house I was sure the windows, especially on the west side, were going to blow out. I have to admit I was seriously wondering if I'd be safer in the bathtub. After it passed it got really quiet. No rain, no wind for a few minutes.

I've been through El Nino storms in L.A. a couple of times when a tornado (confirmed, later on) went over. This was just like that.

A few trees down in the area this morning. A saguaro fell across the road and they just fininshed picking it up with a skip loader. Also, all those little styrofoam cups that people put on their cactus in case of frost are now all over the desert.

I just pulled up the radar on weather underground and man, that bright red line that went thru... I've never seen anything like that here in AZ. We used to get those type of well-defined squal-lines back east pretty often, particularly in the Spring and Fall when there were severe clashes of different air masses. But never in AZ... Wow.... That was simply amazing. Took a brief stroll down my driveway and there are several Mesquites knocked over. Seen that before though during Monsoons.
Still can't believe we didn't lose any windows. My dog is still shaking...

Well I had the wind velocity radar up and there were two couplings that were relatively week (I was talking to Chandler Mike at the time) and the one coupling to the south ended up getting warned after it passed both of our houses for a tornado warning, but there was another one up north, probably what went over your house. Probably wasn't a true tornado but more of just a lot of low level wind going various directions, cause it showed up pretty weak on the radar. Regardless, it was still showing 80+mph wind differential which technically would be EF0 territory for tornadoes.

Good info dude... I would say that due to the lack of damage you might expect to see from a tornado, you are probably right. I mean, there were a bunch of trees and even some Saguaros blown down (never saw that before), but I would expect even more severe damage from a tornado.
Still, an amazing storm for sure. I'll never forget how my windows were bowing during the height of it all... In our family room, we have a window that is easily 10 x 10... I just can't believe how much it bowed without bursting or popping out of the casing. It looked like it was made out of rubber!

My apartment complex on 44th and ray lost a bunch of trees, one causeing the water main to break. Other than that it wasnt that much down here. I think Ms Gov Brewer overreacted by claiming a state of emergency for the entire state. With our budget crunch that is not a good thing. JMO, I know it doesnt matter much.

You even have a clue as to what a state of emergency entails, and why it is declared?












Wait, I will answer that for you - obviously not, otherwise you would have made such a stupid ass comment. The State of Emergency is the first step to getting federal funding to help out with the damage, rescues,etc...

Feel free to tell that to the people of Black Canyon City. Or most of northern Arizona.

I know us people in Phoenix tend to get accused of not realizing there are other places in Arizona, but this kind of comment doesn't help our reputation.

Body of Arizona boy found by hikers

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Arizona authorities have found the body of a 6-year-old boy who was swept away by floodwaters.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said Saturday that the body of Jacob Baudek was spotted by hikers along the Agua Fria River. The boy's body has been recovered from the river bank.

Searchers spent Friday and early Saturday looking for the boy, who was swept away in rising waters about 70 miles north of Phoenix as his family tried to take him to a hospital because he was sick.

The boy's father and sister were also swept by the current, but managed to get to safety.

Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said the boy had been presumed dead. Authorities found the pajamas he was wearing and a backpack he was carrying late Friday.
