I wish I could, but I am finally getting settled in to the new job. I figure by this time next week I will be able to start planning my next trip.

Has anyone spent any time on Pinal Peak? I was looking on google maps and it looks like there might be some interesting spots over there.

A friend just visited Aztec peak and is raving about it. Took his 2wd pickup up there. Looks like your kind of spot.

Water wheel, off of houston MEsa road, is way cooler than I thought it would be. Tons of pools to swim in and good hiking. The top is about a mile hike up:

I slept in and went late, combined with it being memorial day weekend. I am sure other weekends arent so bad, plus if I went earlier it likely wouldnt be very packed.

When I pulled up I almost didnt go in, way too many cars. Once in though and finding out it is a mile hike, 80% of the traffic was in the first quarter mile. As I got further up the loud mariachi music faded away and it was a great place to visit.

My plan moving forward, as I had no idea what I was getting in to and now want to go back, is to sleep nearby, wake up real early and hike up before people even get there.

PS: of the 15 people in the photo, 7 were mine :)

Pulled the RV up to Show Low last weekend and camped at Fool Hollow Lake for 5 days. This pic is one section of the lake that had buoys for the triathlon I was up there for.

Weather was perfect. A little cold at night and a sunny 75-80 during the day. Water was 62, perfect for a wetsuit swim.

One of the nicest campgrounds I've stayed at. My 2nd time up there and I intend to return next year.

Headed up to Appalachia/Smokies on the motorcycle the week after the 4th. Plan on doing some camping along the way. I'll be shooting GoPro style video while riding the hills. Radio Shack went belly up a few weeks ago and I got a whole bunch of Go Pro accessories for 90% off.

I am going to try to make one of these wood burning stoves. I have found a place that says they have the barrel that he uses for $15 and I can probably get the piping from work. I figure that the whole thing shouldn't be much more than $50!

Then I am going to try to modify our cabin tent to add a stove jack. One of my wife's biggest complaints is being cold at night and I would actually feel better having this in the tent than a propane heater.

At some point I want to try a tarp tepee tent.

Better video of the completed stove. I don't know why he put this one as the last in the playlist.

Bought the barrel for this build today. I have some other projects to do as well but I am really excited about this one.

I wanted a 10gal one but 15 was all they had. I am ok with it though. It will just be a little bit taller.

If so, we will just hammock camp somewhere in the rain.

Just got back from my 2 week motorcycle trip in the Smokies. Only camped 2 nights. Couldn't get my top box mounted prior to the trip so I was limited to what I could carry. 2 side box Panniers and duffle bag was all I could handle. Found a great place called Kickstand Lodge.

Bike packed pre trip.
