Thing about Hopkins is even when Kyler was bad in 2022 DHOP averaged 100 yards. Kyler still had a passer rating closer to 100 in the games DHOP played.

Likely not as good in 2025, but wouldnt have mind someone that has a proven rapport with Kyler. Also get not getting him cause he's another slower WR.
Hop looked pretty washed last year with the best QB since Brady throwing to him.

The Chiefs traded a fifth round pick to grab Hopkins because they haven't been able to find a quality WR to pair with Kelce. Even though the Chiefs used draft capital to acquire Hopkins and still desperately need help at WR they decided that $5M per year for Hopkins wasn't worth it.

I think that speaks volumes for Hopkins career arc.

For sure. But even a washed DHOP is better than Zay Jones imo. Again its about completing passes and if our offense is reliant on 50/50 passes then might as well have Hopkins.

And while Mahomes/Reid are GOATs of modern football I do think we have to factor in midseason/new offense. Chiefs also seemed set on rotating as many WRs as possible.

I dont expect a great year in Baltimore either. But again seems better than Zay Jones.

I was not counting on the Cards giving him 4.4 million dollars.

I agree with you. There's 20 guys available I'd rather have than Zay Jones and DHop is definitely one of them.

It's also ridiculous when you consider that the price difference is $600,000 (not counting incentives) between DHop and Jones.

We gave Zay $2.25 mil last year. What exactly did he do to merit a $1.75 million pay raise before the start of free agency? Especially considering that we signed the guy late in the cycle last year anyways, so it's not like people are clamoring for his services.

Such a bizarre signing. Nothing about last year indicated that he deserved to be back, yet alone earned a raise.

I agree that giving Zay Jones $4M seems crazy with DHop basically signed for a little more. Not sure why the Cardinals gave that to Jones.

However the last two season have been about changing the culture and there is a reason DHop was just let go for nothing by the Cardinals. There is no way they are bringing DHop back on this team.

Not to you, but I dont want to hear about culture when you signed a guy suspended 6 games.

At least Hopkins was playing at a Pro Bowl level before/after (2022) when he returned from suspension.

Cards are now in position to grab a DT in the draft; hopefully Grant. Better use of draft capital and maybe a better player with a little work.
While I agree, I hate when we telegraph who we almost have to take in the draft. It makes us a little more desperate and bit more likely for teams to trade ahead of us to snag a position.

the swings and misses at Milton Williams and Fries says the Cards believe that they need to be better at DT and RG.

i would have expected a Plan B to be in place if you missed out on your top targets-- which given the amount of cap space floating around you had to anticipate

Yeah, not so sure. Dhop looked really done last year. Apart from the 50/50 jump balls, he didn't look good.

Do agree that is a lot of money to spend on Jones given his production last year. He did look better at the end of the season in a combination of him looking better and Petzing finally finding out how to use other WRs, but did nothing in the rest and don't think the last games can compensate for that.

Are you really changing the culture for the better by bringing in a domestic violence suspendee… and then rewarding him with a raise after doing Jack and squat last year?

Don’t be shocked if Hollywood gets 1000+ yds next season.
