Here's to C. Richard Coffey...
Dick Coffey was my boss at Calvert Distillers Company back in the day. We used to put on a considerable number of audio-visual presentations - to Seagram ownership and at sales meetings, holiday presentations etc.
Dick was relentless about rehearsing once, twice, three times, four times or even more to make sure you "got it right."
He'd keep you up til 2 am the night before running through the presentation once again.
And he drilled into us the importance of having an extra extension cord and projector bulb - and going into the presentation room while everyone else was eating breakfast to check out the slide carousel for backward or upside down slides (because "sometimes gremlins turn them around overnight.")
We also used to watch a lot presentations - from media reps, market research firms or associates from other company divisions. Whenever one of them would (as often happen) screw up, Dick would catch my eye and wink.
My point - If a well-run organization doesn't want something screwed up, they make certain it isn't.
Cheers, Dick (wherever you are).
