IDK if theres an "official combine talk". So...heres this.

Really interested in Spencer Drango. His measurables were terrific and he put in a solid 30 reps on the bench today. Seems like a powerhouse RT or RG. If there in the 2nd round, Im all over him.

ASUs very own Christian Westerman set the bar for Olineman with 34 reps. Supposedly could do more but cramped up. I saw ASU games this year. I was not impressed by the Oline.

The best G in the class, Cody Whitehair, had a paltry 16 reps. Thats terrible. I was really really considering him at #29 too. New rule: No more G's in the 1st round.

All the Top C prospects had excellent bench showings.

Joshua Garnett, Stanford G, had a real nice 30 reps. Id take him, 2nd round.

Only 2 RBs, and both are big FB types, out benched David Johnsons 25 reps last year. DJ wouldve been top bench RB this year.

I've heard from several people that this is not your typical combine. There are so many closely rated prospects that combine performance will dramatically impact the draft. Watch the speed times, especially the 10 second times. Also agility drills, like the cones, will get more than the usual review.

This looks like a good year for interior offense lineman this may make some of you cringe but I think we could draft a center in the 2/3 round and a G in 4/5 round and come away with 2 very good players

So can someone tell me... is the 40 yard dash for linemen really interesting?

No but the 10 yard split is. The 40 will display athleticism. Easy to criticize 40 for linemen but...........

Whole bunch of interior OL meat in this crop.

Laremy Tunsil could be the over drafted winner this year.

Spencer Drango 3rd round? Cooper & Humphries can't be wasted picks.

The combine shows natural power and athleticism while the tape shows how that translates onto the field. They should be close. If they are not, those are red flags that warrant another look.

For linemen, you want them to be able to move around fluidly. Natural movement skills, flexibility, and the look of an athlete who spends time in the gym. There is a power element that is required for the NFL which you hope to see on film and in the bench press drills. After that, the meetings where you can determine how smart these players are in terms of football and the understanding of schemes. You also hope to see a competitive nature which will translate to being able to handle pressure of playing in the NFL. Can you bounce back from getting beat?

A point of trivia... Chris Johnson's 40 time still stands as record.

.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14837276/chris-johnson-surprised-40-yard-dash-record-stands

Ive always had a small suspicion that his 4.24 wasn't legit. Maybe a clock error.

But its the fact that he, and nobody else, expected him to be that fast that raises red flags.

Its like Im a good golfer. Everyone knows im a good golfer. But Im not going to win the US Open tomorrow just because Im feeling lucky.

Thinking about this pick being made I can't help thinking about someone climbing to the top of Camelback mountain and yelling "Draaaannnnnngoooo. Draaaaaannnnnngoooooo"

Bryan Cox shoves Cardinals scout, plans to apologize

Here’s the 2016 version: Falcons defensive line coach Bryan Cox shoved a Cardinals scout regarding access to incoming rookies during the interview process.

The Falcons were interviewing a player, Atlanta’s time was up, and the Cardinals scout was waiting to escort the player to the Arizona interview room. Cox confronted the Cardinals scout with some verbal not-so-niceties. Cox then shoved the Cardinals employee. It did not escalate beyond that.

The Cardinals had no comment on the matter. The Falcons issued the following statement to PFT, from Cox.

“I intend to apologize to the young man for the incident that happened last night during the interview process,” Cox said. “It shouldn’t have happened.”

To much of this crap is happening in the NFL for my taste, I wonder when these former players turned coaches become the grown up in the room, but it doesn't seem like a very high priority is put on that
