I never would have taken him in the first, but in the second round we should have pulled the trigger, IMO.

I said it before the draft, I said it after the draft, and I'll take credit now that he's the #2 in New England. We should definitely have taken him in the 2nd round.

Mallett rules. Pretty soon, he develop into a HAMMER!!

It's in the gangsta handbook man...page 420 says it clear as day...

Thou shall not bump a thread just for street cred.

Otherwise I would be bumping my Camwagon up and down the street, no one would get any sleep with my coulda woulda shoulda song.

Kudos to you! You are an amazing talent evaluator!

(Go back and search, and even before Mulli was saying it, I posted a thread saying we should take Mallett in the first before I fell in love with Robert Quinn).

I wanted Mallet in the 3rd....but we took Housler...cause that was such a glaring need on our team!

Mallet has completed 49.3% of his passes this pre season. And you claim Skelton will never be any good simply because of John's completion %. His yards per attempt is 4.5.

If Mallet were on the Cardinals most of you would be calling him Captain Checkdown and want to run him out of town.

Hey, I'm not claiming sole ownership of the drive to draft him last season. I'm just reasserting it, because the majority of the board was blasting me and the few others (yourself included) for being idiots.

The difference is, Skelton has proven over nearly a season of NFL play that he struggles to complete 60% of his passes. Mallett has not.

Skelton's completion % improved 7.3% from his rookie season to last season. It also improved from 50.4% over the first 4 games of 2011 to 58.4% over the last 4 games.

Mallet's went down 7.8%.

Mallett being #2 means anything???? Hoyer was #2 last year and he's cut. There's just as likely a chance Mallett gets cut next year. I liked him coming out of college but it's not like we took Housler over a guy starting and showing upper level QB ability.

This!

Well except I never did like him. Ticking time bomb was my stance and I don't think it's been fully defused yet.

Interesting stories:

Honestly, it's a good thing Mallett's arm is twice as strong as Hoyer's. He makes decisions half as fast and has to fit balls into tiny, often non-existent windows. Unfortunately, he's got the potential to hit a cheerleader with any throw because of his too-busy mechanics.

Sounds like Mallet would have fit right in with the Cardinals.

Of course, the Cardinals brought in the guy who Mallett beat out and had to wait until he was cut by the Steelers to do it.
