What is taking so long to get some chatter about this game??

Huge....this IS THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. This game is why I love College Football so much more than the Pros. It all hangs out tomorrow. Lose you get no playoffs....no chance to get the Title.

Let's go Wolverines......HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!

Michigan--28
OSU--20

What a fabulous matchup.

I see two equal teams with Michigan having a slightly better defense and Ohio State a slightly better offense. If Michigan WR Manningham was healthy, I'd give Michigan the edge.

Troy Smith will be the difference, in my opinion. For two years, Troy has played great games when it matters most. If a scramble is needed, he does it. If a long pass is needed, he makes it. He is a leader in every sense of the word. A play maker supreme, he just finds ways to win. He deserves the Heisman and his play against Michigan will cement his legacy.

QB Henne is no slouch either.

I think Ohio State wins in a close one and plays either Florida or USC for the national title.

I'll give the edge to Michigan because of the WRs. Manningham healthy or not, the Buckeye D will have to key on him. Breaston hopefully can get involoved and make a special play. Arrington is going to be a good one.

Prescott Burgess is a huge playmaker....let's see if he can force Smith into a mistake.

I humbly invite y'all to visit MotownSports.com if you want a UofM perspective on things... MotownSports is, like this site, a general sports site, only for Michigan. Lot's of talk there about all Michigan teams. I'm visiting here to talk a bit about the HUGE, MEGA MATCHUP between the Lions and Cards this Sunday and figured I'd stop in here to see if anyone was talking UofM/OSU... I mean, I suppose it's kinda an important game too... but nothing compared to the Lions/Cards match, let me tell ya!

Anyway, the college forum on MotownSports.com can be accessed here:

Assuming it's a close game, the loser here will probably have the best case of any 1 loss team to play in the NC game.
Possibly... I've heard that if Michigan loses and it's a close game, they stand a better chance. If OSU loses, even if it's close, it'll be harder for them to come back because they lost to a lower ranked team, and they were playing at home.

I think national sentiment would be very much AGAINST a rematch for the championship... It'll be a feeling like: "Hey, you had your shot already to beat them and you couldn't do it. Why should you get a second chance rather than another team that could very well win it?"

I hate Ohio State with a passion. Therefore, go Michigan! Tressell is a far better coach then Carr which would worry me if I was a Big Blue fan

I do agree with you by and large, but the big question here is if both USC and Notre Dame lose between now and then (which is a very real possibility), who would be a better option? If USC wins out, they are almost a no brainer for the second spot in Glendale, however with Cal and Notre Dame both left on their schedule, winning out is no sure bet.

Other than them, the cupboards are bare, and the options are limited, making me believe the Michigan- Ohio State loser WOULD be the best option.

I can't see either Florida or Arkansas winning out, and even if they do, I'd pick the Michigan- OSU loser over them. The Gators are as uninspiring of a team as I've seen, not scoring more than 28 points or beating an opponent by double figures since September. Granted, they play in the SEC, which is no joke, but even with their schedule, they should have beaten teams like Vanderbilt and Kentucky without having to so much as break up a sweat.

Rutgers is the feel good story, and being my father is an alumns and I grew up going to many of Scarlet Knight football games, noone wants to see them in the National Title Game more than me, but it IS Rutgers. Let's be honest here, the BCS Championship Game is just as much about possible matchups as it is pitting two teams with the best records against eachother. How else can you explain Oklahoma getting in a few years ago, after getting plowed in the Big 12 Championship game, over unbeatens Utah and Auburn? To the BCS, the prospects of USC's world class offense versus Oklahoma's defense; Leinart vs. White and Peterson versus Bush than they would have seen USC plow through Utah or Auburn. Rutgers is this year's Utah. Mark my words.

Boise State? Let's be real here.. Arizona State has a better chance of playing for the National Championship Game than Boise does.

In the end, you gotta believe, especially if the final result is close, that Michigan and Ohio State will be headed for a rematch and probably unless USC or Notre Dame wins out, likely should be!

As for the old arguement of a team losing late in the season killing their chances, it didn't seem to phase the BCS pollsters too much when Oklahoma and Nebraska both got mule kicked in the Big 12 Championship Game but still got in to the Championship Game. It'd only be right if the same was said for Michigan or Ohio State if the game remains as close as I think it's going to be.

I don't think anyone who's a Boise fan is looking to play in the title game this year. I think we deserve a shot at a BCS game if we win out. If we play some teams that end up having a good year or start ranked in the top 25, or we can beat a big team in the regular season, then we deserve a shot. Ohio State and Michigan have played their share of cupcakes.

We haven't even been in division 1 for 10 years. Our program is growing by huge leaps and bounds, and we hopefully can keep getting better.

If you finish your season with no losses, you deserve a high ranking.

ASU might have a better shot if they can get some more wins.

BCS, definitely. Especially with the expanded schedule, if/when Boise runs the table and they don't get in the BCS, it'd be a damn crime. I see them getting in to the last of the BCS bowls and playing the ACC winner truthfully. The Broncs would stand a pretty good chance against Wake Forest, Maryland or BC, and I think it'd be more beneficial for the program to face a team they stand a chance against rather than going up against USC and getting steamrolled.

Oh yeah.. Besides Texas (OSU) and Notre Dame (Michigan), both teams have played some lousy ass non-conference opponents. It can also be argued that the Big 10 isn't the power conference this year that it's been in the past. Really, beyond Ohio State and Michigan, you've got Wisconsin who's a step below, then the ground really falls out, with Penn State being the best of the next, Indiana being up there, Iowa horribly underachieving and Illinios, Michigan State and Northwestern being horrid. God Bless Northwestern, they've been up against it all year, with the death of Randy Walker, but none the less they still suck.

Sadly, as long as Boise State remains in the Western Athletic Conference, they'll continue to rack up 11 and 12 win seasons and be widely unknown. I'm not saying they should jockey to get in to the PAC 10, but they really should at least consider exploring other conference options.

We lost to BC in a bowl game last year becuase of a pick in the endzone that would have won it. I hope we don't get the ACC team. They somehow get an automatic big and have a terrible conference. We also beat Oregon State by almost 40, and they beat USC. Not saying we would beat USC, but it would be an interesting game.

It's funny becuase we get docked for beating a "Bad team" by a few points, but Michigan doesn't suffer for almost losing to Ball State. There are tons of teams that would take a close win right now.

The mountain west conference had a chance to get us a few years ago, but took TCU instead. They have a terrible TV contract, and don't show games much unless they can control everything. This year, the WAC has been a better conference. The Wac has an ESPN conference and teams that are fast improving. Unfortunatly, we have dominated the wac and we've gone 12-0 in the last few years against the Mountain West.

It's frustrating that conferences with automatic tie ins almost always have some bad teams or ones with a few losses get into the BCS.

One thing I do not like about college football is PI being a 15 yard penalty, not a spot foul. I think it is a bad deal for corners coming to the NFL as in college they aren't put under the pressure they are in the NFL. A deep pass interfered with is 15 yards, while in the NFL it might be 45 yards. I would like to see spot fouls everywhere.

Of course you can make this argument for receivers with the one foot in vs. two feet in rule, but I think the corner position is a much tougher position than WR, and that one rule stunts the psychological growth of corners who are going to make the jump more than it affects WRs making the jump.

Nobody may agree with me, but it's a bit of a peeve for me.

BTW, that PA pass to Ginn was a thing of beauty...the RB sold the dive play perfectly...you can't execute it better than that. Taking notes, Cardinals?

Great game so far. I've been trying to keep an eye on Jake Long. He's been doing a good job so far.

Great college f-ball game.

BTW, Jim Tressel is an amazing man. I love hearing that guy talk. Such wonderful composure.

Troy Smith is a lock for the Heisman. I'm still shocked at how much he's progressed as a QB the last few years.

Yes - just give Troy Smith the Heisman today, and be done with it.
