They also aren't a particularly fast team

Probabaly the fastest team Ive seen in this WC and Ive seen almost every game. Especially in the Serbia game. Serbian plays would have a good 6 or 7 step head start and still would fail to get to the ball first.

I've watched them too and I didn't see that at all...physical and tough seemd to be the best description for me. Gyan is fast, really fast, but the rest of the team isn't exceptional when it comes to speed.

Serbia is just slow, they make everyone look fast.

It's almost like a maternity ward, with all the crying and whining out there. Who is the pretty boy who somehow thinks shooting every ball on goal, even from the middle and sideline, is a good idea?

Oh well, at least his hair is well cut.

God, i hate the Portuguese.

I think we can easily beat the winner of korea/Uruguay but I highly doubt we beat Ghana. I just dont have a good feeling. Altough if you count the 2 good goals that we were deprived of we would be on a scoring high.

I think Uruguay wins v S. Korea and will be a very tough out. Ghana will test us a bit with speed but, as has been said, they aren't killer in that regard, no more so than Algeria. And, like Algeria, they simply don't have finishing touch. I'm very confident we can beat them. We have momentum and this team, more than any other U.S. side, has shown incredible resiliance and toughness. We win this one 2-0, IMO, and go in against Uruguay in a friggin' knock-down death match. We have a very good chance to make the semis.

We definitely got the better side of the bracket by winning out group for sure.

Didn't see any early games today. Everything remained as I thought it would :)

Right, except the Brazil/Portugal game was awful. I don't know why, but I'm getting more disgusted with Dunga as the days go by. No wonder Brazil cries so much--they get it from their crybaby coach.

I love the fan reaction videos. I was watching them for ages last night (along with some classic Leeds fans videos as well!). Gave me chills.

I found this one which is quite funny. I like cookie monster the best.

Also. Can anyone tell me how to embed. I know I just put a video up but I think that was more by accident than anything.

portugal vs holland or netherlands last WC 16 yellows 4 reds I think
The main reason i hate them, but their crying and whining helps too.

Nice vids. Had the same thing as you Milgod. Goosebumps, chills, and eventually wound up youtubing a lot of Feyenoord-vids.

And cookie monster rules. He deserves his own fanvid.

So, end of phase 1. Time to start the tournament.

Uruguay - South Korea
USA - Ghana

Germany - England
Argentina - Mexico

Holland - Slovakia
Brazil - Chile

Paraguay - Japan
Spain - Portugal

To me Chile made the best impression, they've played organised, attacking, and attractive football. I don't know if it will be enough to upset the Brazilians though. Portugal (blegh) might pull the upset. And i can easily see Mexico advancing, even though i think Messi will eventually be the deciding factor.

To be honest I had to do a forum wide search for instructions. I'd have to have them in front of me to do it again...sorry I am not help.

What im liking about this match up, is that unlike the bunkering Uruguayans, Argentina likes to play man to man and the Mexicans match up well vs them. This team is primed for an upset :-D

1. 2 goals vs. the Aussies 2 weeks ago??? Almost a hat trick. He set the tone early with that masterful goal from 25 yards out and it really stamped our flag in the ground of that game.

2. His header yesterday was the 3rd or 4th best chance for us to score. He created the shot after a great pass inside the box.

Buddle has been the calm, ball possession guy that Jozy needs while he creates with his body.
so that's it? buddle's claim to fame is one friendly and one or two other scoring opportunities that he failed to convert? by this measure he's just as much a bum as jozy is if not more.

I think what some people here are not giving jozy credit for is the havic that he(himself) is causing. he was a beast against algeria and dropped out of the box and caused problems. his goal scoring must come though. ultimately that will quiet the crowd. look at donovan...he had a game to forget against algeria...but that goal was a career defining moment. there is much more to soccer than scoring goals. right now jozy is doing all of the hard work...eventually I feel that will pay off for him as he moves forward.

LOL

L.A. at #10 behind Dallas and Kansas City?? Come on now. Home Depot Center is a great venue.
DFW has the best stadium in the country(as we speak) and can fit more capacity than any other for a world cup final. not to mention with over 6 million DFW is the fastest growing metro area in the USA. Considering the game will be played in a spicy USA summer the flexibility to play indoors will be good as well. They might want to ban vuvuzelas though.

You're right, Jozy NEEDS to score. A striker that doesn't score, especially for the US, is almost worthless. But for every good game he plays (like against Algeria), there are 5 bad games against sometimes inferior competition. He needs to improve. Period.

I always thought it was Vegas, then Phoenix as the fastest growing metro areas.

I agree...i'm just saying let's take england game for example. he played his worst game of the tournament, but if he scores that goal he's the greatest hero of all time in a USA jersey. I mean look at his goal vs spain last year...
I just think as a striker, when you are not scoring, you can make your mark in other areas....much like wayne rooney or messi do. I mean let's take a step back and look at some of the premier strikers who are in the prime of their career. They aren't necessarily scoring goals at a premium in this world cup are they?

jozy was all over the field against algeria and was involved on the game winning goal playing a great ball into the box. If I remember correctly buddle had a similiar opportunity to play a ball into the middle about 8 mins prior and he blew it. yet you have people that love him and feel like he clearly should be starting. I just think we need to keep things in perspective. I'm not saying jozy is great, but he's 20 and the best we got unless we are going to move dempsey up.

If you ask me I would just play dempsey and jozy up front and add a attacking midfielder to the lineup. forget buddle and gomez. bring them off the bench if need be.

this is a conflicting arguement. I recently heard on cnn that dfw was the fasting growing. about 5 years ago it was phoenix and san antonio that was booming. I've also seen that miami is booming. I think from a consistency standpoint DFW has been booming for a couple of decades now. to me DFW can compete for the final. It has the airport, the market, the location, and the stadium. jerry jones did a great job building the stadium for a world cup final. In fact that was at the top of his list when he was in the planning stages. It will be tough to match...but certainly LA could build a nice stadium if they are to get a NFL squad soon. or you could have the final in the NY stadium.
