I have to admit, Germany has come a long way since the days of Völler, Mattheus and Klinsmann to name but a few. Fresh, offensive football with almost no diving and crying, i'm not supposed to say this as a dutchie, but i'm slowly becoming a Germany fan.

But to place Serbia in that same category is like saying Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the biggest teamplayers around.

Uruguay is still in by the way, but i'm a little biased since Luis Suarez is playing there. He's flopped so many times, and has asked for so many yellow cards for his opponents, that the phrase nowadays for such behavior over here is 'a Suarezje', which means something like 'pulling a Suarez'.

Too bad he couldn't resign before the WC. :-[ He did a solid job of qualifying us after the Sven ship was sinking, but his stubbornness to start old players (Perez over Ochoa, Franco over Hernandez, Osorio over Moreno) really cost us an opportunity to advance. If Rafa Marquez does retire from football, id love for him to be our coach for 2014 WC. In the meantime, the favorite to land the coaching gig is Jose Manuel "Chepo" De La Torre, who's lead Chivas and Toluca to a Mexican league title each in the past 4yrs. Not a fancy name, but he's a coach whos not afraid to play youngsters over some vets. I'll take it :-D

By 2014, maybe young Jozy Altidore (only 20) will get there; he certainly has the physical gifts, although it's unclear whether he has any scoring touch. (It's the difference between Dwight Howard's low-post game and Pau Gasol's low-post game; you can work at it all you want, but you'll never be as good as the guys who are born to put it into the net. A guy like Germany's Miroslav Klose could find the far post falling out of a wheelchair when he's 60. It's a DNA thing. I am convinced. So the worry is that Jozy has too much Howard in him and not enough Gasol.) Maybe Davies and Fast Young Guy X will provide that missing burst on the wing. Maybe Teenage Prodigy X is four years from saving us and we don't even know his name. But you can't advance to the semifinals without the "WOW!!!!!!!!!" factor. Impossible.

That summed up my feeling of Jozy perfectly....

Wow. I thought the US defense was poor. That was atrocious.

I would like everyone to note that these teams are both whining and diving as much as people say Italy does.

Nobody has cried/whined more in this WC than the Brazilians.

Another reason to want them to lose.

Why are they saying players will miss the next match? I though the yellow cards reset after the last round.

Robinhos whining was pretty annoying, but not quite as annoying as Robbens flopping. Thats as worse as i've seen in the WC.

Congrats to the Dutch though. Rode Kardinal must be going nuts right now

Flopping?? You mean like when Melo stomped on his leg?

Bastos kept going in Robbens legs before the ball was even there. None of the fouls they called where diving by Robben. They just fouled a lot and Robinho getting in the face of people and screaming their faces was worthy of multiple yellow cards.

Maicon and Kaka both flopped more often than Robben and one of the Netherland guys who got booked for it.
