I guess you are entitled to your own interpretation but only the refs count.

If the other leagues like the NBA were to adopt your view of in-game penalty only, there would be a prevalence of infrigments like flagrant two.
I have no problem of retrospective bans for dangerous fouls that could/did injure players.

This instance however was not that. You are only looking at the handball, why do you ignore the fact that it should never have been a free kick? That is why I would be mad with FIFA if they extended the ban.

Seeing as this is an African WC I wouldn't be surprised though.

Now your argument is just getting ridiculous, this exchange was because you said Ghana players were offside not that they did not deserve a free kick. What next? Their goal was scored by the refs? Maybe we should revisit every foul called by the Refs including the blatant dives by Suarez.

That and the fact that Germany beat Argentina by 4 goals makes me think they will win it all this year. Not to toot my own horn but I jokingly said Germany would beat Argentina easily.

I was only talking about offside so much because you didn't seem to understand the rule.

I said twice (at least) that it shouldn't have been a free kick earlier in the thread.

If Spain can play to their potential they can disrupt the German well oiled machine. I had no idea Germany is this good, haven't followed the Bundesliga in a while.
In the build up to the world cup (qualifiers) had always thought the Dutch are a team to reckon with and unless the game with Uruguay somehow goes to penalty, i don't see how they can lose to the Uruguayans.

This is going to be a weird question, but maybe some of you guys across the pond have an idea:

How do I get video of a few of the commercials of the World Cup? I can watch them on Youtube, of course, but I'm looking for downloadable versions of a few of them (like the Adidas Quest ads) and even some of the pre-game stuff like the U2 performance of the Get On Your Boots remix and the Morgan Freeman voice over intro to the first game.

Any ideas?

The only one I have right now is that we have TIVOs with DVD burners at work that record everything, if I have one record a game and just burn a DVD, I can rip it that way. For the Morgan Freeman thing, I guess I'll have to see if it's already recorded the South Africa/Mexico pregame.

Encoders to convert to WMV/AVI perhaps? But with that amount of work, you may be better off just editing the TIVO/DVR recording.

I don't have the recording easily accessible, that's why I was asking. I work in video, so I can take basically any format and convert it--I've already got a good 90% of the games already on my computer--but they are edited so no pregame or halftime (so no commercials). The problem with FLV is that while the file size is small, you're talking about a heavily compressed file that would need to be compressed again to make an MPEG-2 for DVD.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm creating a World Cup DVD for myself and some friends that will have several games and stuff on it. Creating menus and other extra items, which was why I was asking for any ideas on how to get some of the ads/leadins.

I couldnt have been more wrong. I thought Germany would be out quickly with such a young team and its veterans out. They look like they will be dominating this and the next 1 or 2 world cups.

Netherlands are the favorites to win this. It'd be a much better game if Suarez were in.

I think Netherlands take advantage of Fucile, Lugano being out and will win this 2 or 3 to 1
