From a neutral's point of view(although I actually want the Netherlands to win) the best thing that could ahppen is the Dutch scoring early.

Uruguay are going to defend well and if the Netherlands score then they would have to open the game up to get back in it. I hope we don't see a long boring stalemate.

My prediction - 3-0 Netherlands

Wow. Two great goals in this game. I expected Netherlands to run away with this one. Looks like it might be an entertaining second half.

Imagine had he stuck at Man U, he and Rooney would have been a great partnership.

I didn't watch the first half but I just watched the highlights. That Dutch goal was the goal of the tournament thus far IMO. Absolute ROCKET of a shot that couldn't have been placed better if he did it 1000 times.

Someone explain to me why that could have been offsides like the announcers were talking about? Even if it was deflected, he did so in an onsides position?

I really like Dirk Kuyt, he does so much unheralded work for Holland--very underrated player.

Van Persie was offside by a foot or so when the ball was played. Had he made a "soccer move" on the ball he could have been flagged for offside nullifying the goal as it could have been deemed a distraction for the goalkeeper.

They showed the line, and it was even.

Actually, I don't think there's a question that he was a distraction; he certainly was. The issue is whether he was in an offside position, and as close as it was, I think he was onside.

I thought that was almost a carbon copy of the very first goal scored in the tournament by South Africa.

A few years ago Newcastle U were hard and heavy after Kuyt. If they had managed to sign him and keep him, we wouldn't have been relegated, and wouldn't have had to win promotion. He is solid all around.
