If the Diamondbacks could get Saunders and another of their prospects, such as Mike Napoli, for Tracy, that might not be such a bad deal. Rumor that seems to continually make rounds is Tracy for Saunders and MacPherson, with Dallas ultimately being packaged in a possible deal for Teixeria.
Are the Rangers seriously considering trading Mark Teixeira? That would not make any sense to me, seeing as how he is the cornerstone to the franchise. Also, who are some free agent pitchers that are in the price range of the Rangers that they might take a look at during the offseason?
-- Nick B., Marysville, Mich.
I don't think the Rangers will deal Teixeira unless they make a blockbuster trade in which they get three or four good young players in return. I just don't see that happening, but it is a possibility.
Arizona defintely has the young players that Texas is looking for.
The question is who they would want. Would you include CoJack (I would say yes, obviously)? Owings or Nippert? Young?
His contract is up after this season and his agent is............ you guessed it, Scott Boras. If we were to trade for him, I owuld also want to extend him. We seem to have no problem dealing with Boras but he's still a pain in the..... Also, I'm not sure how high byrnes would be on extending Teixeria.
^ I like it, but who plays 3B for the Dbacks then? You move Tiexiera there? CoJack can barely handle first, Im sure he'd be a nightmare at 3rd. And, I do like the idea of the Dbacks holding onto Upton, Gonzalez, Quentin and Young for now, and trying to figure out which guy they like the least.
I'd rather keep Gonzalez, and send CoJack to Texas, and since obviously thats a downgrade, send another guy. Maybe Chris Snyder? Then sign a Kelly Stinnett type veteran catcher to platoon w/ Montero.

Also, if Texas gets a catcher from Arizona, I'm almost certain they'd ask for Montero.
No way in HELL that happens (us trading Montero, that is)
Kansas City's offer to Miguel Batista reportedly remains on the table, but Royals officials indicated they now believe he has bigger offers from other teams and is likely to sign elsewhere.
Even in this market, we find it hard to believe Batista is going to do better than the three-year, $24 million contract the Royals reportedly proposed. The Cardinals and Mariners were believed to be the other two finalists for the right-hander's services.
Free agent Mark Mulder plans to visit Texas and meet with Rangers owner Tom Hicks on Tuesday.
The Rangers reportedly visited Mulder in Arizona last month, and it's believed they have made him an offer. The Mets, Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Padres are among the other clubs interested in the left-hander.
