Overhaul the coaching staff and get some in here that can spot and coach talent. Smart coaches make adjustments to put their players in the best positions to succeed, not try to run their system regardless if you have the players to run it or not! Done with whiz he has proven to be just another few year HC like many for the cards, his stay was longer thanks to th FO being fooled by Warner carrying this team to the playoffs.

There needs to be some coaching changes. We need to wrap up Horton if we can somehow. Expand his duties and some extra $$'s. Maybe he's comfortable enough to stay awhile.

We need to make a big move to bring in better talent and cut off the dead wood. There are some half dozen players that don't really need to be here any longer.

If Grimm is fired, that opens up the asst head coach spot to move Horton into if that is what the team wants. Honestly, I am pretty sure our 5 game skid has tempered some of the lust for Horton around the league.

As far as cutting out the dead weight. I expect to see turnover on defense just because we are so old on that unit. Vonnie Holliday, Nick Eason, Paris Lenon, and James Sanders are all over 30, and all free agents. It wouldn't shock me if the Cards only brought one or two back. On offense, we probably need to get more experienced, but where we could upgrade we are bonus money invested into (ala interior OL).

UPDATED

I'm going to go against the rules for my dream offseason scenario...

After getting fired, Cards sign
OC-Norv Turner
OL-Mike Munchak

Re-sign in FA
RB-LSH (vet min)
ILB-Paris Lenon
S-Kerry Rhodes
S-Rashad Johnson

Sign FA
RB-Chris Ivory
TE-Martellus Bennett
DT-Aubrayo Franklin
CB-Stanford Routt
CB-Isaiah Trufant

Draft
1-Tyler Wilson Arkansas QB 6'3 220
*Big arm, big prospect who has had to overcome NFL type adversity in college

2-Jonathan Cooper North Carolina OG 6'3 310
*Athletic OG who needs to get a bit better at POA, but excellent movement skills

3-Khalil Mack Buffalo OLB 6'3 244
*College OLB who has great instincts which leads him to rack up TFL and sacks. Physical pressence.

4-Margus Hunt SMU DE 6'8 280
*Big physical player in the JJ Watt mold. Needs work, but a bunch of physical skill here.

5-Kiko Alonso Oregon ILB 6'3 242
*Big time playmaker at LB. Every Oregon game I watch he is making plays and causing turnovers. He plays on 3rd downs and would at worst be a great nickel LB.

6-Tyrann Mathieu LSU CB 5'9 175
*A gamble pick. I'm not sure he will be able to go back to college, and I think at this point in the draft he is worth a look. Can fill in a Mike Adams role at worst and at best, develops into a play making nickel CB.

7-Quanterus Smith West Kentucky OLB 6'5 249
*More physical talent than actual skill but a player who can be developed outside. Can't have too many pass rushers.

Why the balls do you want Martellus Bennett? Didnt he show up to camp bordering 300 pounds after getting signed? I dont want him anywehre near this team.

And I see a striking lack of Oline picks. Putting it off 1 more year wont hurt.

Why?

I don't know anything about him but 32 receptions averaging 11.7 per catch and 3 TDs at 248lbs looks ok. I did hear he had some issues with Romo when he was in Dallas. So does he have an attitude problem? (As for weight don't get me started on how stupid it was to replace Lutui with Rex Hadnot and Adam Snyder and Ohrenburger King just because Deuce was too fat. If you are going to run off a great Cardinal fan like Lutui don't replace him with a bunch of stiffs.)

Biggest question is how many passes does he drop per target????

Tell you why not, he would make Doucet at this moment look like a catching machine, dude is inconsistent when it comes to holding on to a catch...NO THANK YOU, we already have Housler to do that :)

He was a central Character on Hard Knocks: Cowboys years back.

You cant say the Cowboys didnt try with him. Apparently it didnt workout becuase hes gone now.

Hes an immature, lazy, lackadaisical jerk who doent apply himself.

"He has all the talent and physcial ability in the world, But..."

I have watched several Giants games and I generally focus in on TEs and how they are used. One thing that struck me is how good of a blocker Bennett seems to be. Now, I understand blocking isn't the most important talent for a TE, but when coupled with Housler, Bennett would provide a more athletic blocking TE who can also make plays down the field. He looks to be a better blcoker than Jeff King has shown and is a more explosive player. Will he be the next Tony Gonzalez? No, but for a medium contract, he can be an experienced evteran option to fill the #2 TE position and move King a Dray to special teams options.

Some guys conform to the environments they are in. Dallas is run like a country club and players react to that. He goes to the Giants and now he is a hard working, model citizen.

In regards to our offensive line, there is only so much youth the team is going to add in the offseason.

I don't see us adding another young OT in the first round, and Chance Warmack is more likely the option if the Cards decide to go OL in round 1, though I doubt they will. As far as round 2, yes, if Warmack is available (and I doubt he will be) we would take him. Past that, we would the Cards add another mid round OT? They already have one 1st, 4th and 7th round pick at OT, why would they add a third rounder to that mix? Same goes for OG. Chances are the Cards aren't going to eat the bonuses owed to Snyder or Colledge for a 3rd round or later draft pick and they already invested a 5th rounder last year in Kelemete.

Consider as well the Cards have 2 defensive linemen as FA's who are old as well as 3 S's and 2 CB's who are free agents. Some of these positions will have to be addressed in the draft as well.

So that matters to the Cowboys now? If the Giants brought him in, I am okay with the guy.

The Giants also paid out the ass for Rolle. So I dont trust their judgement of players.

DLine is a down the road issue. Right now O line cant get more front and center. T,G,G first 3 rounds.

Warmack and Warford are both vastly superior to both our current G's and also Kelemente. Dont worry about picks or investments. These rookies get paid peanuts nowadays. Its no problem going after talent. We can keep Kelemente. We need depth on this line BIG TIME.

Levi, Massie, Matthews, Potter
Sendlein, Kelemente, Warford, Warmack
Possibly Colledge

perfect.

The Giants just won their 2nd Super Bowl in 5 years. I'd say their judgement of players is pretty good.

Overpay dramatically for quality FA offensive linemen who can pass protect and run block.

If this doesn't totally get the job done, draft the BALT (Best Available Left Tackle).

Wield a sharp axe (no more talking ourselves into believing ANY of our linemen "really aren't that bad." When in doubt, cut).

Other than that, make solid, intelligent personnel moves to the extent we can do so.

One major problem the Cards have had is when they let a lineman go they bring in a guy who is worse. It's the only position where that seems to happen. So to me it has to be Grimm.

Anybody want Ben Patrick or Leonard Pope back? Rolle? Dansby? Antonio Smith? MCFadden? But we replace Wells with Faneca who was basically finished with his NFL career. Colledge the worst lineman for Green Bay, Lutui with Hadnot and Snyder. Levi Brown with Brandon Keith. What the heck is going on?

Its easy when you have an elite QB.

Our problem is we never are the worst team in the league. We always hover between 5-12 which is basically no mans land for drafting elite QBs, because they are usually only available between 1-4.

Without Eli, the Giants would not be a contender.

Eli doesn't play defense. That pass rush is not Eli. Without the pass rush, the Pats wins those games easily.

As a cardinals fan, you of all people should know the best D in the world is worthless if you have no offense.

The Giants "Thing" is they come back late in games.

Therefore, even with an elite QB, they are often losing most of their games until Eli kicks it into superstar mode and comes back.

Do you think any other QB could bring his team back week after week? The giants usually play poorly in the regular season and turn it up in the play offs.

No question. Without Eli, the Giants wouldnt even touch the playoffs.
