I simply couldn't understand the logic.

Stern not being popular in Phoenix has absolutely nothing to do with possible conspiracy. Just because the fans couldn't accept a punishment doesn't mean that it was wrong. Even Stoudemire accepted it and moved on. As for asking other fans of teams, there are three issues:
1) They are simply not as informed about the issue, because they really don't care
2) The Spurs are largely seen as a tougher out in the playoffs for most team, why would other teams' fans side with the Spurs rather than the Suns? In fact, the Spurs have been painted as the mean dirty bully (funny that never happened before they faced the Suns even though the team has played together for 5 years), fans of other teams would naturally despise the Spurs.
3) What survey have you done? Is it possible that you simply are hearing the opinions you want to hear? I do not claim to have the same knowledge of how other fans feel about this issue than you do.

It just seems like you are dismissing the opinions of those who do not align with yours as being "not objective".

The second argument you had also doesn't click with me. What does not playing Euroball have to do with merchandise sale? Wouldn't high scoring players attrack more fans? Especially those of the perimeter type (see Kobe, LeBron, Jordan, Carter, etc ...). A free flowing offense attracts casual fans, it has been shown over and over again, one does not need to understand the game to appreciate the ball going through the basket, but it does take those who know the game to understand a good stop.

The 3rd argument goes with superstar calls. Nash is a superstar, he is a two-time MVP. Stoudemire is a superstar, and Shaq is a superstar, even though he is on the downward slope of his career. There isn't another team with more superstars than the Suns, doesn't this mean that the league would give the Suns more call according to your own theory?

Sorry ambchang, I only discuss basketball with fans that are willing to raise themselves above blind homerism for a view. Your tenure at this board reveals you as easily the most blind homer of any visiting fan. Laker and mavs fans are ambassadors by comparison.

on ignore ....

Who cares? This isn't science, we can just read and ponder. I was searching for Amare's stats online and this article came up and I thought that someone else might want to see it.

I hate to be captain obvious here but the answer is........... you.

You cared so much, in fact, that you decided to dedicate an entire thread to it.

You also know that it fans the flames of hate, and unrightfully so. If there's something to be gained from an article like this, so be it. I just don't see it unless someone can provide some proof one way or the other. It's pointless otherwise.

In a van...down by the river.
I definitely agree that officials have become so desensitized to seeing Nash get shoved around on every play that they no longer call it. He takes as much punishment as Iverson, but something in Iverson's body language enables him to continue to get the calls he deserves.

It's the tatt's.
Maybe Nash needs to get a big, bold, colorful, tattoo on his arm.

Wow, another person who is not able to see through their own blind homerism and actually acknowledge other fans' questions. It is at least comforting to know that you don't have issues and talk to yourself on basketball.

So me opening up to question other fans is blind homerism, and yet ignoring other people's view points whenever they disagree with yours is being objective.

This board must have a collection of the most narrow-minded fans, and that is saying something, because I have been posting since the early 90's, and this really is the first board that has issue with me.

EDIT: BTW, I got two private messages from Suns fans on this board who found my take to be "fairly intelligent, well-thought out", and that I am being "respectful". While another poster let me know that I will "NEVER be able to change any of their opinions" because they are "blind fans".

Interesting.

I think the author is partially true. I also see two more reasons:

1) The referees will always blow a number of calls per game; that is an intrinsic property of the current officiating system. So the more fouls a team commits, the more fouls will be missed by the referees in favor of that team.

2) This is just speculation on my part, but I think referees try to avoid being seen as biased by trying to call roughly the same amount of fouls on both teams. So if a team commits a lot of fouls, they will start calling only the most obvious ones.

Right on the money there. I would like to add to that, the newer rules when no hand checking is allowed etc has played a roll. There was a position to let the game and players controll themselves. Not anymore. But with all the onus put on the refs it makes it even more difficult. Now you see tons more flopping in order to get that anticipatory call. In the old days you would never see a Power forward or center fall to the floor no matter how hard an opposing player hit him. He stood his ground and let the player know....next time you come here... its going to be even worse. Now they rely on the refs to enforce.

just my 2 cents...

Well put. Ive been put on "ignore" so many times when they had no valid argument or point of view. I too have posted on many boards were my opinions are not necessarly shared but at least debated with some sence of decorum. Here, it always gets down to the "troll" comments and "ignore" declerations. Yet, though im supposedly on ignore... they keep comming from the same 4 or 5 posters. Hmmmmmmmm

I have a simple question for the troll brigade. If you really feel the league and stern is manipulating the outcome of games and in paticular holding the suns down, then why do you support the league with your hard earned dollars and precious time?

Because I posted this means that I care if it is possible to "verify the veracity" of these claims? Really?

I supposedly has been put on ignore by the same person 3 or 4 times, and yet they can still see what I am posting and getting back to me, I found it strange.

What is even stranger is, why would they say on an open forum that I have been put on ignore? Why would they care? Am I not supposed to be ignored?

I had about 30 pages of arguments with some of them for a long long period, but what really got me was when I started posting video evidence that they could not respond to, I was put on ignore.

Also, they "laughed" at my lack of logic and homerism, and yet couldn't, for one instance, back up what they say, at all. I sometimes wonder whether these are actually the same person, because I just can't see how 5 or 6 people can be THIS blind.

Oh i know! It's quite humerous in a way. Even the mods here know the real deal, ive talked to them. It's typical of any person who cannot debate with well thought out valid points. They stoop to name calling and personal attacks. Not a lot unlike our current political environment! *grin*

Well.... i think ill go watch some games. Everyone have a good night!

Lmao. From your post I am guessing the Trolls are still at it? Pathetic. Those losers could be at a crime seen with blood on their hands, fingerprints on the weapon and still argue against all reason they are innocent.

One thing we learn from the internet is some sad people are just completely starved for attention no matter what type it is. Positive, negative, or the "completely annoy you until you are at your sanitys end by incessantly making pointless shallow arguments with you just for the sake of desperately trying to get any kind of attention" type.

Praise be to the programmer who came up with the ignore feature. Praise be to that person and a thousand blessings.

*edit: But also about 500 lashings for making it so that it still shows quotes from ignored people. Can't forget that.

Praise to be the person who kept putting people on ignore but couldn't ignore. Just shows that the point of putting people on ignore is not actually ignoring them, but because they cannot argue.
