Didn't even look in this thread.

I was wrong about Kevin Kolb. He cant stay on the field based on the limited sample size I have. I still think he has talent. I just dont think he has the right body type or pocket awareness at this point. Too things I grossly miscaluclated when evaluating.

I was wrong. Just like I was about Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner.

And if for some reason things turn this upcoming season with Kolb and my previous confidence in him is validated, I am hoping I have enough self assuredness and confidence in my knowledge to not have to go search for a thread to bump to rub someones face in it.

Although like with Daryl Washington...I might contribute to an already started thread by another poster ;)

I wonder how many people made excuses for Leinart last preseason because of his limited game-time experience. Leinart came into the league a year before Kolb and he'd thrown for almost twice as many yards as Kevin. If you expect Kolb to walk in and be a finished product, I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Not every young QB is Aaron Rodgers.

Kolb is what he is. A QB who has never been a permanent starter on any team in 4 years. A player his GM was happy to trade last year. A player who lost his starting job with the Cards to a rookie QB from Fordham. What did we really expect when we traded for him? There was nothing in his past to suggest he would even be a starter much less our QBOTF. Our staff must have seen something to give up what they did to get him. What ever it was it was not shown in his statistics. We have compounded an already bad situation by giving him 7 million more dollars. Why should we expect him to be better this year than last? My guess is that our owner made the call to get him and made the call to keep him. Good luck with that Coach Whiz. Whiz chose to start Skelton over Kolb last year late in the season which tells me he thought Skelton was better which he was. Why should Whiz think Kolb will be better than Skelton this year? Most of the talking heads I hear speak of Kolb as a mistake by the Cards. Most of them I hear talk as though Skelton is our QB this year. I just hope one of them turns out to be a good QB because that is essentially where our future lies for this year. I really do not care if it is Kolb or Skelton as I do not know either. I do know who played better last year when I watched and I admire Whiz for sticking with Skelton all the way when I suspect he had some pressure to do otherwise.

Kolb won the starting job in Philly, beating out Michael Vick, before being hurt in the first game.

Every Skelton start was because Kolb was hurt. Skelton finished out the season because of Kolb's concussion, not because he outplayed him.

No, Kolb didn't "win" the starting job in Philly. Unless you thought that Philly gave Kolb a $25 million extension because he was a promising backup to the $5.2 million or whatever that Vick was making that year.

Kolb has never had to win a starting job. He's had the job handed to him three times now.

Sure, Andy Reid started Kolb because he made more than Vick. Whatever you say.

And Whisenhunt will start Kolb because he'll clearly outplay Skelton in the preseason games. Just like Whisenthunt cut Leinart and started Anderson because of the "spark" that Anderson brought to the offense when he allowed Anderson to pass the ball a couple times.

Who do you think extended that $25 million contract to Kolb, Renz?

Renz, I don't think there was really a quarterback competition back during that training camp, was there? Remember, Vick was only one year back in the league, was the clear number three in 2009 when Kolb got multiple starts in Donovan's absence and once Donovan was traded, no one was really talking about a Kolb v. Vick QB comp as Kolb was obviously Reid's guy who had just gotten a contract extension.

yep

you have that stuff right there truckdriver. I sound like a broken record every year, I kind of want to apoligise, but for what?

If I read you correctly (and that's never a given) you have graded Fitz, Beanie and DRC as our 3 best players. And that's supposed to be based on something they did on the field? Or did you switch thoughts in the middle of the stream and actually intend to say that you predict them to be our 3 best players in the upcoming year?

Regardless, you get 10-20 times the bang for the buck with Skelton. That $9 million or whatever it is that Kolb it eating up on the cap could be better used elsewhere.

Sando: Cardinals fans are hoping that comment doesn't apply to Kevin Kolb as well. Kolb had trouble staying on the field last season, missing extended period with toe and head injuries. He struggled when he was on the field as well.

AP Photo/Elaine ThompsonArizona's Kevin Kolb, right, has a lot to prove to season after struggling through an injury-filled 2011.

Williamson: I look at Kolb like I look at the rookies last year. The lockout, those guys got thrown into the fire in an unfair manner. Any quarterback changing teams, especially a QB with limited experience, never got the minicamps or the things they needed. But man, I didn't like anything I saw from Kolb. I think their quarterback situation is the worst in the league right now, right there with the Browns and the Dolphins and a few other teams.

Sando: Arizona saw enough to pay a $7 million bonus to Kolb, keeping him on the roster. The alternative was heading toward the draft with John Skelton as the only starting prospect. That would have been rough. What about Kolb bothered you the most last season?

Williamson: I just didn’t see anything to get excited about. Didn’t see tools or the willingness to hang in the pocket. Maybe he was just uncomfortable. A couple guys who floundered last season could step up big after having a regular offseason. I just did not see anything. Kolb does not stand as firm in the pocket as I would like. I'd like to see him more willing to take hits to deliver the football.

Sando: Kolb did that well on a deep pass to Larry Fitzgerald at Washington early in the season, absorbing a crushing hit to complete a game-changing pass. But that play was an exception. Kolb did bail from pressure too frequently, and he could not stay on the field.

Williamson: Ken Whisenhunt was used to Ben Roethlisberger, who is the opposite. Kurt Warner is the opposite, too. He would take a hit, let it go at the absolute last second.
