Wait until someone makes an illegal hit and heaven forbid the guy dies. Then the player, the team, and the NFL is sued for liability.

It already happens in the NHL and people are tried and convicted of assault. Holding the team and the NFL liable is the next logical step.

Again, you're comparing apples to oranges. In the NHL, the only actions that are charged with assault or stupid malicious acts like Bertuzzi pile driving Moore's head into the ice or McSorely clubbing Brashear in the head with his stick. Not for a genuine clean hit that injures someone. An illegal hit is one thing, a clean hit is another.

Clearly you do you are clamoring for more regulation in this thread that you started. ;)
You should probably re-read that and tell me where I said there should be more regulation. I said I think the NFL will do something about that type of play.

Then you're comparing apples to oranges. The hit on Fitz was not malicious or dirty while Brown's hit was malicious and dirty and he should be suspended. The guy who hit Fitz was going for the ball, nothing more. He wasn't making a beeline for Fitz in his best Juggernaut impression. Brown floored Huber because he was a coward and knew he could crush a punter. I bet Brown wouldn't hit a linebacker in a million years like that.

As was said, football is a physical sport. Want to cut down on injuries? Compel all players to wear the proper equipment including mouth pieces and penalize them if they aren't wearing them on the field. High School does this(15 yard penalty if you're not wearing your mouthpiece). I mean, what's the point in cutting down hitting. I understand the concept of not allowing someone to launch themselves but if a player makes a big hit and they don't leave their feet to do it, how is that a penalty? And don't get me started on the unprotected receiver crap. I mean, what's the point of being a defensive back if you have to wait, not only for the receiver to catch the ball, but for them to actually establish possession and make a "football move" before making the hit. And we wonder why we have QB's putting up crazy numbers.

Garvin not Brown.

If you don't want to get hurt, then don't step out on the field.

No, I'm about applying consistency to the rules that are already there. You can't lead with the crown of your helmet, that is what happened with Fitz. Of course it wasn't intentional, but still against the rules.

If you don't want to get hurt in a car wreck, don't drive.

And please, don't wear a seat belt, and also, disconnect the air-bag. Take the bumpers off too - un-needed regulation.

IE translation MORE REGULATION! :mulli:
But I didn't say I was for more regulation just that the NFL will probably look at it, especially when a guy like Fitz gets hurt.

Just like when they put the "no going low on the QB" rule after Brady got hurt.
