Jackson, Tracy, Reynold makes our best 3,4,5 or 4,5,6. When a team is struggling this much at the plate we need out best lineup night in and night out.

Tracy has started five games since Byrnes had his most recent DL trip, all of which were at first base (meaning no positional impact to Reynolds). Jackson has not been benched in any of them, Reynolds has twice.
So Reynolds was benched twice in five games when Jackson and Tracy played.

Playing Reynolds with Jackson and Tracy in only 3 out of 5 games, especially since he leads the team in HR and RBI's (he's on pace for over 100 RBI's) doesn't make alot of sense on a team that has difficulty scoring runs.

Especially since Reynolds is a streak hitter and, right now, he's hot.

Duality and causality are not the same. What makes you think playing Tracy at first has anything to do with why Reynolds did not play at third for those two games?

By the way, I believe Reynolds had some recent leg issue that gave him an extra day of rest somewhere around that time frame. I'll see what I can look up, as that could be the answer to your question.

I didn't make my point clear enough. If anyone is protecting Eric Byrnes' status if he should return this season, so he won't have to force either Jackson, Reynolds or Tracy out of the lineup . . .

Is that in the best interest in the team's performance?

In other words, justifying the overpriced investment they made in him and making him the face of the organization.

It's bad enough that it had to be him or Hudson and they made the wrong choice.

What do you think? Should they save face at all costs?

Melvin seems to have a hesitancy to use Jackson, Tracy and Reynolds in the same lineup.
I had suggested a few days ago that he should have Jackson in LF, Tracy at 1B and Reynolds at 3B. Don't screw with those assignments, bat them 4-5-6 or 3-4-5, keeping this mini-murderer's row in tact. I think Melvin doesn't feel like he's accomplishing anything unless he juggles the lineups ad nauseum. It's too bad Ojeda gets squeezed, but he is doing fine as a super-sub.

Every day is Bob Melvin Bobblehead Day. Just look in the dugout, listen to his lame press conferences or watch his goofy batting orders and you'll see the bobblehead. :D

I was wrong, it was an injury to his wrist and not his leg that kept him out, per today's AZ Republic. Nothing to do with Chad Tracy or Eric Byrnes or anything like that. So there you have it.

Thanks. Then Tracy was held out of the ********* yesterday, but a lefty started. Of course, Chris Burke went 0-3 in his place.

Let's see how many times Reynolds, Tracy or Jackson are held out the lineup going forward.

Of course, if we trade for a legitimate cleanup hitter OTB (other than Bonds) to play 1B or LF, it will become a moot point.

But shouldn't we be showcasing someone other Chris Burke and his .168 batting average?

Being that this thread is about firing Melvin, I can't believe that the team brass hasn't come to the conclusion that a change is in order.

The old saying is that you can't fire the whole team, so you fire the Manager.

Well, if the whole team is under-performing, it does reflect on the Manager.

I'm hoping for during the All Star break.

Edit: I just watched Bob Melvin on the post-game interview. Shoulders hunched. Leaning over, with both elbows on the table. Picking at his face. Wringing his hands.

His body language influences 25 players, not to mention his coaches, umpires' decisions and the fans. Bob Melvin is setting a low ceiling for everyone else.

Put him out of his misery already.

Melvin looks like a defeated, frustrated man. His team was shut-out and held to three stinking hits to baseball's worst team. John Lannan is not Sandy Koufax. Four double plays? I know that Melvin knows what the hit and run is, why doesn't he use it? LoDuca has thrown out one of 17 baserunners this year, ONE. 'nuff said.

Bob Melvin's managerial record with Seattle was 156-168.

His managerial record with the Diamondbacks so far is 288-289.

Together that's 444-457.

His 10-year lifetime Major League batting average was .233.

Let's hear from D'backs Manager, Bob Mediocre.

"Well, y'know, uh (picking at face), y'know, we're just in a little slump, y'know(wringing his hands). I don't know what to do, y'know."

Thank you, Bob Mediocre.

I'm trying to stay patient but last night was another comedy of fundamental lapses. I think an even more disappointing (telling of leadership?) was Thursday night against the Nats.

Miggy gets hammered at the plate on a couple of plays (clean, hard nosed baseball) while Stephen Drew gets thrown out at the plate with a sissy, lame ass head first slide. That should have been payback time as well clearing the catcher out of the way to score the run. Gritty, tough mentality is not one of this teams traits.

Bob's aw shucks mentality is starting to wear thin.

Well, Drew and gritty/hardnosed never have gone together. I can't get why everyone is so down on all the other youngsters and Drew gets a free pass. He's a really expensive, totally mediocre shortstop who winces a lot.

You're right, add him to the list.

Here's the thing, either the Dbacks don't really have all the young talent everybody thought they did or all the young talent they have is being grossly mishandled.

Somehow I just keep thinking that CQ is a clue to the true answer.
