This is fake news. It apparently varies by theater.
There are only so many IMAX 70MM theaters.

I'll trust the info directly from IMAX.com, but that's just me.

Earliest show I could get at Chinese Theater IMAX was 9-freaking-55 pm on Tuesday.

I ain’t happy about the wait OR late start!
IMAX tickets are crazy. I was thinking of seeing the afternoon show next Thursday (the 27th) and it's almost sold out at the Mills. When I looked earlier it was the front 2 rows and only a couple seats on the edges. I wasn't expecting that for a 2:30 pm on Thursday a week after opening. Now I have to figure out when I can actually get a ticket.

I’ll trust the actual theater I’m going to, but that’s just me:

Fantastic acting and cinematography. Overall it was a good movie and have no doubts some awards are headed it’s way.

I had two small issues with it. The pacing was uneven. The movie was choppy pacing at the start almost to an annoying level then dragged at parts towards the end. Just uneven. Second, I think this may have been a theater issue, but the bass was so loud and the music sometimes that it distracted from what was happening onscreen. So much so that it drew me out of the scene. Update: I have several friends now complaining about the sound mix as well where they had seen it. They thought it was a minor but annoying as well.

Again, both minor complaints. Can’t say enough about the cast. So many great performances by the cast. You know how usually when there is a star studded cast most of it is just useless cameos or scenes? Not in this movie. Again, great casting. Plus, when I left the theater, I definitely had the sense, even though it happened a long time ago of "what have we done". Which is relevant to me with what I am seeing with AI in my industry.

Truly one of the ensemble casts I've ever seen -- I'd compare it to the stellar casts that Robert Altman used to put together in the 80s and 90s. A LOT of cameos and people I didn't realize were in the film. And a ton of recognizable character actors in nearly every scene.

Question for you guys that have seen it. I haven't seen any mention of audio quality on it yet. Is it good or is it typical Nolan? AQ is always my main complaint with him. The mumble dialog is famous but his last handful of movies also have bad clipping in them. It's like he's locked into the music loudness war from the aughts.

Stuckmann says the audio was poor - like some other recent Nolan films.

He suggests that people watch it later with subtitles on so they can understand what people are saying.

Tenet was REALLY problematic as far as that was concerned. Even in scenes with no action. It was bizarre.

He started that with Bane and then it's gotten worse over the years. Interstellar was pretty clean but both Dunkirk and Tenet were muddy messes. The waveform on both of them scare me with how bad the clipping is.

Dunkirk didn’t bother me because the sound all kind of fit the fog and chaos of war that he was going for.

But man… that boat scene in Tenet… when they’re just talking and I couldnt hear jack squat… was ridiculous.

This thing is opening up HUGE. 75 million dollar opening weekend for a 3 hour epic, no IP and starting Cillian Murphy.

That’s freaking impressive.

Though not as impressive as Barbie apparently opening to 150 MILLION.
That’s bugnuts insane buckaroos.

People wearing pink all over the theater. Funnily enough there were a couple of people in Oppenheimer cos-play in my showing.

Lots of unnecessarily loud effects, to the point where when the bomb went off my reaction was "oh, that's it?". I didn't have any issue with hearing the dialog though.

It was the first time I've seen actual film in I don't know how long and there were 3-4 vertical lines that near the middle of the screen that would show up which was pretty distracting. I guess I'm not as much of an aficionado to really appreciate 70mm and probably would have enjoyed a digital showing more.

It’s definitely a sound mix problem and Nolan is becoming synonymous with them.

Thank you for doing a good job of tempering my expectations for this. They are wayyyyy too sky high.

I had no issue hearing the dialogue but there were a lot of sudden hits that were startling.

For everyone who saw this already, where would you rank this among Nolan’s films?

I would have to think about it. Inception is still my favorite but I don’t think I have ever done a ranking.

Dunkirk is a masterpiece.
The Dark Knight & Inception are tied for #2 IMO.
