D'Antoni
SUNS HEAD COACH MIKE D’ANTONI: “...Our guys are good they will be fine, the good thing is Kurt Thomas can play with Amare and that is great. It was good to see Amare’s pop and swagger and he’s going to keep getting better...”
-------------------------

thank GOD. it's now time. we've got 5 days. i want rotations to be SET the next time we play a game.

starters/closers (min):
nash (32)
bell (32)
marion (35)
amare (30)
KT (25)

bench:
barbosa (35)
diaw (30)
rose (20)

nobody else plays unless we're up by frickin 40 (or foul trouble hehe).

-diaw is getting the mojo back. we saw less tentativeness for 2 straight games.

-barbosa NEEDS to be on the court for us to be successful. simple as that

-rose is already better than banks (not turnover prone).

-the starters are theoretically our best defensive unit too

with a newfound desire to actually TRY, these guys might end up being pretty good after all.

i couldn't really tell last night if it was amare going all out or the team repeatedly looking for him, but both elements were definitely there, and that's a great sight to see.

I agree with most of what you say but I think its way to early to give up on Banks as the backup PG. Give him a month to get used to the guys and the offense and if by then he can't cut it then bench him but we are only 7 games into an 82 game season.

I don't agree and neither does D'antoni. 3 minuets for the "next KJ" as one poster put it.

Everyone is ready to trade Amare on this board but preaches patience with this Banks guy. Yeah that makes sense.

Hey don't group me into the trade Amare group. I think Amare is going to be a key to whatever playoff run this team makes and I most certainly don't think Banks is the next KJ. I just think Banks has to be able to log minutes to keep Nash's minutes down. I don't know how I feel about Jalen Rose being the Suns backup PG. And if you want to base what D'antoni thinks about Banks minutes based on last night then you can also say JuJones will play 13 minutes and KT will only play 15minutes the rest of the year. If Banks gets hot shooting D'antoni will play him.

Tree, there's more than two positions to take on those two players.

I just can't believe that it took this long to see Amare and Kurt together for more then a minute. I think this is what they had in mind when first bringing Kurt in.

In terms of trading Amare, that was some of the most ignorant talk I have seen in a long time on this board. Not only because everybody knew it would take Amare a while to come back but because it was so early. Not to mention that if any of those fools even thought about it, if Amare wasn't worth his contract due to injury, then he would be untradeable anyway.

I think that if Jalen Rose continue to play this well then Marcus Banks is going to lose minutes. I still think Marcus can come in to play a few minutes but his game is not very complimentary to the other Suns players. I hate to say it but he reminds me of Starbury. Shoot first...pass maybe!!!!! This team is all about assists and unselfish play. When he pulls up and shoots quick, it take the Suns out of what they like to do.

Banks still has the potential to be a good player for us, but he has pretty much no chance if he gets frozen out and stuck on the end of the bench.

Here is the thing though. In the short amount of time I have seen Rose versus Banks, I think Rose fits our style better. He has fewer Starbury tendencies. I don't think he's getting frozen out as much as playing himself out of minutes.

Banks has shot absolutely absymal for 3, turns the ball over, never finishes around the rim, allows his man to blow past him, and can't distribute the ball. All while basically making 4 million per.

He is going to be our #1 trading piece because on a lesser team with some cap space he could be a decent SG or bench player.

Im not ready to write off Banks either, but until he learns this offense, and proves he can see the floor a bit better, he should sit and learn.

I agree I like Rose better but you never know whats going to happen with Injuries etc We may find we need Banks come playoff time. He's proven he is a decent NBA player and D'antoni must have seen something in him, would be stupid to give up on him 7 games into the season.

I like your rotation, but I especially would hate giving up on James Jones. He hustles so much, and is so tenacious on D, if he could ever get his offense going it would be nice. I'd like to see him and Banks each get about 5-10 minutes a game for a while longer, if they don't get on track, then shorten the bench.

Right now it looks as though Banks is just trying too hard to prove himself and not yet adjusted to the Suns style of play, but I'm sure he's hearing that from the coaching staff. If he's a smart player he can learn a lot during his bench time.

Jalen Rose looks really good so far. He has that veteran demeanor that projects a calm but deliberate, no-nonsense, businesslike, let's-get-it-done attitude and he's a team player. That probably carries over to the locker room and it's all good. My guess is he'll prove to be an important part of the team throughout the course of this season.

Banks needs to sit and learn, I agree with the starbury comments. I like his attitude way better than steph's. He needs to worry about making others better than hitting the 20 footer.

Awesome news -- if it lasts

This was reported in today's Republic:
D'Antoni plans to play 2 big men -- out of Stoudemire, Thomas and Diaw -- and allow Marion to be mostly at his desired Small Forward spot.
I'll take that with a grain of salt, until D'Antoni shows that he is willing to stick to a plan.

A couple of weeks ago, he was quoted as saying that he'd like to see 5 interchangeable 6'7" guys on the court.

Why is Phoenix stuck with Managers/Coaches who have sports A.D.D.?

Dennis Green went public with his quarterback decision, then rescinded it in the blink of an eye.

Bob Melvin, following in the footsteps of his mentor Bob Brenly, tries a new lineup, and it lasts for a day -- one day. Then another, then another.

So if Mike D'Antoni has come to his senses that his team is not going to become a contender without a Center and Power Forward (or, in our case, two Power Forwards) on the court and Shawn Marion at Small Forward, great.

If it lasts until a shinier toy comes along, so to speak . . . it'll be the same 'ol-same 'ol. I'm hoping his decision this time shows the strength of his conviction.

If he doesn't do that we have to ask why did he get KT at all?

The fact is all of our front court players than can play have to.
It makes sense.

I think Banks and JR will see spot duty but I think they have to stick with the top 8 to get some kind of rhythm going.
