From Mort:

RT @Bronco_LG: AZ's deadline to cut Kolb have any bearing on timing of Manning's decision? >> He'll be courteous in communication but no
3 minutes ago

So if he tells us tomorrow we are still in the running but he needs more time do we give Kolb his money?

I say we give Kolb his money at that point. Manning has known what our deadline was. He knows Fitz, knows Whis, and if he can't even give us a "no" at that point I think we move on.

At this point, if it happened I'd be ecstatic but I'm tired of all the speculation. S**t or get off the pot Peyton...we got moves (albeit small ones) to make and this seems to be a thorn in the side until a decision is made.

I'd love to have you, but we're going to compete for the NFCW with or without you...It'd just be a tad easier with you.
He doesn't owe the Cards anything. He had nothing to do with the deadline to pay Kolb the bonus tomorrow. Its his decision and the Cards do what they want with or without him.

Very good points. If he is a true professional, he should call and tell them his decision.

he does owe the Cards if he ever felt that he was serious about signing with them and he will let them know by tomorrow

If Luke Bunger says we're still alive, then by God we must still be alive. After all, he is Luke Bunger.

He doesn't owe us anything. Depending on his relationship with Fitz and Whis, he may owe them a "no" by tomorrow, but otherwise he doesn't owe us crap. It's his career and his life.

I just think if we don't hear by--what is it, 1 pm?--then we move on and sign Kolb. Personally, I think we'll get a call saying, "Sorry guys," or a call saying, "I want to come here."

Heard on the radio today that Manning WILL make his decision in time for the Cards to meet their deadline with Kolb. That sounds good to me as far as him possibly signing with us. Of course, who knows what MANNING is actually thinking and if HE plans on signing by then. It's still all up in the air with three teams in it still. The big swing factor could be if Adams offers an ownership share to Manning. Why not? He's in his frickin' nineties!

4 Scenarios,

1. He doesn't call or return call
2. he calls with No to AZ
3. He calls with "Dunno yet"
4. He calls with Yes

1 or 2 : We have to pay Kolb I guess
4 : I hope so :)

3 : is the difficult decision to take

Personally, I think the ownership share and the GM positions and all the speculation is irrelevant. First of all, what we're talking about is Manning's career NOW. His legacy, which he obviously thinks about. His football legacy, not his ownership legacy or GM abilities, his football prowess. Secondly, I think he will get a GM spot or ownership stake in a team at any time after he retires. He's a stud. He will get those things at any time after he retires, but he only has 1 or 2 or maybe 3 years to play football and that has to be his focus.

If he's a greedy SOB (which I doubt) he can sign with Denver, which has huge money available. If he's looking for GM positions or stakes in teams he can sign with Tennessee. If he's looking for SuperBowls, he can sign with us. I have to believe Peyton Manning wants to win Superbowls.

From what I read from mort tweet. it's complicated proccess that requires owners approval & NFL cap policy might kick in as well since he will be playing.

First: Why can't he? Do you think the league wouldn't approve Manning? Second: Well, they said nineties on TV yesterday...not my fault :D

It's not allowed. It circumvents the salary cap.

I MEANT BY MY STATEMENT HIS DECISION TO NOT WANTING TO SIGN OR SIGN BY THE CARDINALS DEADLINE WITH KOLB...yes, if ethics means anything to anyone, and I firmly believe it does to Peyton, he will. It's his career and his life and the professional manner he always wanted to be seen in it

There's ways around that. I seriously doubt a "promise" circumvents the salary cap.

And if it's found out there would be major repercussions. And value of team is subjective. No way it could happen.

"he doesn't owe us crap. It's his career and his life" gets a yell from me when I'm suffering the contemplation of having Manning or all of the above of the none of the above lol

Nothing would surprise me. They had the report this past week regarding Dwight Howard in basketball that he would have the right to fire the coach or GM if he signed. That's insane. Nothing would surprise me man. I'm not saying it would happen, I'm not even saying it doesn't break the rules, I'm just saying ****'s will find a way.

LOL Fair enough man. I do happen to agree with you, and I think I even posted it at some point back there, that I thought he would at least call us and tell us "no" or "yes, I want to be here." I'm with you man.

Never said I was mad at Peyton or that he "owed us anything", just that I'm tired of the speculation. Ready for a decision to be made so we can get on getting on.

I am more confident because all the press is saying "It's Denver." or "It's Tennessee." If they were saying "It's Arizona." I'd feel like it was going to blow up in our face.

Interesting you say that. I live in Knoxville area...And they obviously are talking about Manning. A few reporters are saying this is alot like his college recruitment. He specifically said...All the schools(teams) that are talking are the schools he didn't go to. He said everyone in the world thought Ole Miss was a slam dunk....and they were shouting in the streets..Peyton is coming...and Tennessee came out of his mouth and everyone said..huh? wow. Let's hope he is doing the same thing. Because you are right. Denver is talking, Tennesse is talking...But Arizona is being as quiet as a mouse. Lets hope he doesn't have Kush-Lash!
