OK, gotta love this. Rick Neuheisel is picking ASU to upset Oregon:

http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/

Reece Davis was on KTAR and gave ASU a "better than a puncher's chance". He said he doesn't believe ASU will need "lucky breaks" in order to win. That our talent could be enough, IF we excecute flawlessly... no turnovers on offense. Bigtime pressure on Mariota... knock him around consistently... And the crowd HAS to be a factor.

Of course, Mark May predicted that ASU will lose in a crushing blow-out. He actually said that if Oregon doesn't "call off the dogs" late in the game, ASU will lose by more than 30 points!

God bless Laurece Davis, and God bless the Alabama Crimson Tide.

I wish he was right. Anchor chair is not usually allowed to make outrageous statements or go out on a limb. Anchor chair isn't usually allowed to make predictions at all. He usually is right, but this time he's reaching.

Excellent.

Hopefully, we will also have some top recruits at the game, and we can keep the score close enough, or even pull off something surprising. We will see, game day approacheth.

Unfortunately b/c its a Thursday game, and HS plays on Friday we're not getting many out of state recruits in for this game. A lot of in state guys (ie Priest Willis, Devon Allen) will be there on 'unofficial' visits, and a lot of current ASU commits from AZ should be there too.

The only out of state guy visiting if from NYC! Ebenezer Ogundeko a 3 * LB prospect with offers from: ASU, Bama, Florida, Notre Dame, and many more.

One of the clients I work for, a huge supporter/alum, hooked me up with a ticket and a pass for some VIP tent type tailgate.
It should be fun, I haven't been back to SDS since the cards left and can't really remember the last Devil game I went to.

A few x's and o's on the Ducks O line:

http://www.registerguard.com/web/sp...der-linemen-ball-quarterback-running.html.csp

Also, I forgot that Cameron Marshall's little bro. is a freshman running back with the Ducks. http://www.registerguard.com/web/sports/28904031-41/oregon-arizona-game-state-ducks.html.csp
Their running yard totals are pretty comparable this year so far since little brother is getting a lot of garbage time. Would be nice to see Cameron Marshall have a big game tonight.

Interesting comments here about the Duck's offense hoping to keep ASU from mixing up their blitz package by running their usual fast paced offense:

http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2012/10/marcus_mariota_and_oregon_duck.html#incart_river

"Maintaining the tempo of the offense, running back Kenjon Barner said, will disrupt ASU's blitzing "because now you can't look to the sideline to get a blitz call," he said. "You have to go back to whatever your base defense is. Our tempo and the way we play kind of combats a little bit of that." "

I really don't know much about whether ASU gets its blitz direction on each play from the sideline, or whether they are making their own reads and adjustments prior to the snap. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

Having just moved to Portland, there are a lot of Oregon fans on my street. My neighbors said they will keep their windows closed so I don't hear them cheering. I will be wearing Sun Devil gear tonight and wore my Pat's Run shirt at the gym today and I know most notices the Sun Devil logo on it. It feels good to be that guy in enemy country.

Same down in Southern Oregon!

I am thinking the whole painting the "A" Mountain thing was probably a false flag attack carried out by ASU students.

Now you're just tempting fate. Rece is as Crimson as the sky is blue, and makes regular reference to it in his dry, unassuming way.

Rece took the chair from Chris Fowler, who set the standard for objectivity while occasionally slipping in an upset prediction. Fowler was almost 100 percent on the money, because he never had any face to save with outrageous predictions. Rece is like a Fowler carbon copy in that regard.

In-house, people are thinking ASU kept it close the previous two years because Oregon wasn't very good throwing the ball. That may or may not be different this year.

Its going to depend upon whether ASU can bring the same pass rush as they have against the other teams, and whether Mariota can handle it. I think he is a better passer than Thomas was, but ASU's defense appears to be better this year, so far.

I wonder if it will matter at all... Can/will ASU stop Oregon's rushing offense and force them to have to throw the ball??

I still believe it will come down to limiting Oregon's possessions... I think I heard a stat recently that said Oregon typically averages 15-18 possessions per game... I think if ASU can keep Oregon in the range of 12-14 possessions, their chances will increase dramatically!
In order to do that, they will have to be able to move the ball and sustain drives on a very tough Oregon defense... AND, ASU will have to convert the majority of their drives into TD's - no field goals and no punts!! If ASU is kicking the ball at all after a stalled possession, it will lead to their demise...

and Pennell suspended. Hope Sutton can return, but it doesn't look good. Will be awfully hard to stop that running game tonight.
