I actually have the laserdiscs that they are pulling the transfers from, and I'll never get rid of them. The picture might not be great, but the discs are actually very good--and back then, they were spectacular.

That's cool. I dont think I have ever seen a laserdisc playing, but recall they were touted as being incredibly clear.

It was about as good a picture you could get with an analog signal (DVDs are digital and better). Also, with laserdiscs there was a major problem with rot (basically, the glue between platters would melt/disentegrate and it would make the picture all snowy). That actually happened with my Shawshank Redemption laserdisc.

But essentially what we're going to get is a quality slightly better than VHS but not as good as regular DVD. A lot of early DVDs used the same kind of transfers--Spies Like Us and Funny Farm (both full screen DVDs) are good examples.

I also like the newer versions. Only complaints are the "greedo shoots at the same time" scene and some of the lightsaber effects could've still been improved to be consistent with the prequels. Other than that, I like the new versions.

And I break from a lot of Star Wars fans because I actually like Hayden Christiansen being the ghost of Anakin at the end of 'Jedi'. That is his character.

Bought all three of these yesterday.

There is a BIG difference in the quality of the re-mastered 2004 vs. the original. Sound sucks, and the picture is not clear. It is very apparent it is a copy of a copy. :bang:
