There were some who thought we should have gone after him in the off season but now McCarron is going from potentially starting for the Bills to riding the bench behind Carr. I mean, Buffalo didn't even want him backing up Allen who, apparently is going to start despite his rough pre-season. The Bills offensive line is worse than ours and this poor kid is going to get killed. I mean how bad must McCarron have been for the Bills to want to rely on Peterman as their lone backup?

Didn’t you want to trade for him like last October?

I certainly thought he was a better option than Mike Glennon. Who knew we would get Rosen?

I think McCarron would still be on that team if the Bills hadn't managed to get Allen and had Peterman play really well, along with getting hurt.

I am mild McCarron fan. But boy did Cardinals do well not going anywhere near the dude.

Also someone should award the person who scuttled the McCarron deal with Browns.

He was always a career backup. My mom could of had success playing being the single greatest offensive line in the history of college football.

He never came close to getting touched. He's Troy Dorsey no more.

If I did(I don't recall) it was at a time when Palmer went out and we were down to Stanton and Gabbert which I would stand by. At that time it looked like a feasible option considering what we had. After the season and during free agency, it was a different animal. There were better options available. At that point I wanted Teddy Bridgewater.

So teams are having QB buyer remorse in the same offseason. Bridgewater, McCarron, possibly Glennon even though I think Glennon is a suitable long term back up on this team. I think MIN & DEN will have remorse next year.

I don't think the Jets had remorse. After seeing Darnold in action they decided to go all in with him and decided to keep McCown as a veteran backup. IMO they did Teddy a favor trading him to New Orleans.

I'm not a Glennon fan... But I'd take him over Ryan Lindley heading into the playoffs any day of the week :p

You think Allen had a rough preseason? Have you watched him play? Dude looks like a starter already IMO. Granted, he's young but that will only be fixed by playing. Even in the Bengals game, which his numbers do look lousy, I think Allen was fine. He doesn't look lost or incapable, just raw. That whole offense needs time to gel though.

Agreed. I think the unexpected wildcard for the Bills was Peterman. I think they thought he'd still suck like last year...and he'd be the one on the way out.

Chuckie and his revolving carousel of QB's. Just like his days in TB.

He was under serious pressure, but he throws off his back foot way too much. He definitely received a concussion on that last play. He is not ready to start from what I've seen.

*sigh* Good job at gleaning what you want. Did you miss the part when I mentioned their offensive line? When I say rough I'm talking about getting knocked around.

No, I didn't miss the part about the o-line but this is the part you wrote about Allen: "...apparently is going to start despite his rough pre-season." That isn't exactly clearly written. His rough preseason is much different than saying he got roughed up in the preseason.

No less so than any other rookie QB good enough to get the nod. I'm sure he's got plenty to learn but he's good enough right now to be on the field. Perhaps he relies on his arm strength too much by throwing off his back foot but his mechanics have already improved to the point that accuracy hasn't been mentioned much at all about him this preseason. Which was the whole reason many thought he shouldn't even be a first round pick. If he gets McCoy back at RB, he'll have a fighting chance.

While the #Bills signed AJ McCarron and drafted Josh Allen, incumbent Nathan Peterman steadily impressed and performed. With a brutal schedule early and Allen not quite ready, Buffalo makes an easy call and installs Peterman as their starter
The Bills being the Bills. The guy who threw 5 interceptions in one half is the guy that's right to open the season? If they were going to slow play Allen then why abandon the AJ McCarron experience? If they're just throwing Peterman to the wolves, what kind of confidence is the team going to have in itself? I mean, if the Bills are conceding that their QB is destined to get hurt because they know they suck, why would anybody follow a group that knows they suck but can't fix it?

I’m so glad we didn’t end up with Allen.
I think it's going to be tough for Rosen to outproduce Allen. I like Allen's size and tangibles more than Rosen's since I fear he will often be dealing with injuries but it remains to be seen if either of them have what it takes to process at the NFL level.

I think the Cardinals would be just fine if they had Allen though. Especially if he fell to where they got Rosen.

If by outproducing you mean volume numbers and wow-plays then possibly but we need the guy who can read defenses and move the chains. Your comment regarding durability was my main concern at UCLA. He was measured at 224 but doesn’t look it. It looks like he has a solid lower core and scrawny upper core but that can be worked on.

Allen's going to have such a low completion percentage, and overthrow so many receivers, he'll get picked off by 1 1/2 or 2 times more than Rosen in his career.

Yeah, I think he'll just be on the field more. Rosen isn't scrawny so there's hope that he stays healthy but he's pushing it. At least to me he seems at risk with his frame. And you can work on adding mass, the underlying frame and structure are what seem to matter. Skinny guy with muscles packed on top never seems to hold up long term.

I'm certainly curious to see how he looks in NFL games because I haven't seen him struggle with that this preseason. Maybe it rises to the forefront when the real games start but his supposed accuracy issues seem exaggerated after watching him play this preseason.
