The claim is it was consensual and then the woman asked for 30K or she was going to go public and file charges. that's the blackmail claim. The problem is there are 21 other women, either this is an incredible example of ganging up or something is up with Watson and massages.

Such a crazy story.

Yeah the pattern of conduct (at least per the ESPN summaries of the claims, but then again ESPN will say anything for clicks) and the fact that there are women from multiple locations who do not appear to have any connections makes me believe it. On the other hand, if there was a demand for settlement that sure does sound like blackmail. And then there is the timing and the fact that you have am 84 year old billionaire owner who is beyond well connected and probably thinks she owns all her players to begin with....

yeah it’s nuts.

Just to be clear I haven't read all the charges but I think most of them involve people either going to his hotel room or his house so he's not in massage parlors he's bringing people in.

That's what makes it so odd to me.

Also note, he really should not have hired a lawyer named Rusty Hardon
Omfg hilarious that sounds like a bart Simpson made up name tp moe

Sucks on Watson always like him as a qb so did he basically pay escorts or call girls or is it worse than that?

Lol no chance watson traded for Murray now

We were never, ever trading Murray for Watson.

Regardless of the perception of Watson's current relationship with Texans...I think it's a bit telling we haven't heard much of anything from the team. Maybe this pattern of alleged behavior was already known within the organization.

Allegedly, there's still interest on the trade market, though I think teams believe that his value has depreciated based on what's going on.

Regardless of what's going on, the Texans can do a lot of good for him by showing him support. Of course, if these allegations are later proven to be true, then they need to distance themselves from him.

Note nobody really knows. his lawyer is saying this woman tried to blackmail him in January, he refused, now she's one of the defendants. he doesn't actually know that they have not got the names of the women yet they are demanding them but so far have not gotten them. So he's assuming this woman is one of them but doesn't really know. He apparently thinks she was lawsuit #3.

The crazy thing is there are now multiple complaints about incidents that happened AFTER Watson and his attorney first became aware of complaints. That is women are coming forward saying he did this to me too, after Watson had already been notified lawsuits were coming. if that's true he clearly has an issue.

Whole thing is crazy

I wouldnt confuse "having an issue" with serial rape which is what this is. The testimonies are about as vulgar as they come. He better not play a down of football in the NFL again. Guy is a first rate scumbag and should be in prison.

I haven't read them all but I'm not aware any of them claimed rape? one of them claimed forced oral sex. Not saying it's not bad it is but I don't think rape is an allegation, yet. If it was his lawyer would be much more active with the local police right now he's saying he's consulting with them on whether criminal charges are applicable.

Unless Watson's lawyer is right, DeShaun Watson is in a whole heap of trouble.

The angle that McNair is somehow coordinating this is preposterous.

Think of all the liability if he’s paying people to say things. Even if McNair didn’t get caught, he is reducing Watson’s trade value by like 6 first round picks.

Occam’s Razor: he’s a serial rapist. Probably never plays again in the league.

Forced oral sex isn’t rape???

Unless the official definition has changed apparently not. I'm certainly not saying it's ok but unless they've changed the law he's technically not being accused of rape.

had to google it but apparently that's correct in Texas, they define rape and sexual assault to be the same thing.

This came up in the Harvey Weinstein case and believe it or not LOTS of states still don't define it as rape, but it looks like Texas does so he would in fact be charged with Sexual assault which is the same as rape in texas.

To clarify yes it is in Texas apparently. Had to google it to find out. Lots of states, Georgia for example it's not.

The FBI apparently made the change years ago but many states have not adopted the FBI standard.

So if that's true, then Watson is in serious trouble because several of the allegations include that claim

Wow is that sad, who knew. Thank you for the clarification. What a wild world we live in.

Boy, I would not want a couple of you guys sitting on a jury in my trial. o_O

Yeah that whole innocent until proven guilty and beyond a reasonable doubt does not matter on message boards or the media.

But with that being said, looking at it from what is being reported it is becoming harder and harder to think that there isn't something going to the accusations.

State laws can be absolutely mind blowing.

I seem to recall it also coming up in the Brock Turner case at Stanford not sure though.
Seems nuts that the FBI can change the laws, but states don't have to follow the FBI changes
