Exactly. A suspension means both (a) the team has incentive to train and admonish players against making dirty hits, and (b) players know that if they make illegal hits, they'll not only be losing money, but letting down their teammates. He said it's because it punishes the other players on the team. He said they should be fined. Not sure I agree that the rest of the team shouldn't have to live with his actions though. The team should hold him accountable in the future where he's more likely to think twice about doing it.
Did you really just equate hitting a woman to a late blow to a fully padded football player, with a helmet on?xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
If this was done on the street, Gronk would be in jail. Instead, he gets suspended one game against the Dolphins.
This is worse than the allegations against Elliot. Should be minimum 6 games for this.
That play where Mcmahon was picked up and slammed to the ground comes to mind.I just watched it and it was DIRTY! He deserves more than one game. As for dirtiest ever, not by a long shot.
Agree... If that's Fitz's position, then all unsportsmanlike penalties should just be fines on players and not be yardage penalties, cuz that punishes the rest of the team.He said it's because it punishes the other players on the team. Unless the fine is substantial, simply fining a player isn't going to cut it. If you fine a player who's making $4 million a year like Gronk does a sum of $20K, it's a drop in the bucket. Now, docking them a game check hurts as it would be about $280K in Gronk's case.He said it's because it punishes the other players on the team. He said they should be fined. Agree, the fines they get are nothing compared to the paycheck they get. I think Fitz is wrong here. These guys live for Sunday afternoons. Having to miss a game is a bigger deal than a fine.
this was a brutal hit but not dirtyThis hit was worse:

Gronk is losing $280k for his hit. Despite what his contract is, that's still a hefty chunk of change that players simply don't want to lose.
They need sensible consequences.
Gronk gets to sit a day with no pay.
Gronk pays a fine on top.
Gronk pays (irrespective of whether the injured party is collecting his pay from his own team) the entire salary, every week, of the injured player, during the time he is out. If the player is out for the year, then Gronk gets fined the remainder of that players salary for the year. (if incident occurs past the 6 month point, then it automatically is 6 months). I could see that kind of action.

it wasn’t intentional. the guy hit him in the back which caused his head to come down, otherwise the guy in front would have hit him in the chest.I disagree. Helmet to helmet contact is dirty when it is intentional especially the hits to Bolden in the video.

Gronk is not cute, he's not entertaining, at least to me. The things he does, if they were done by some other players, they would be crucified in the press. But Gronk is held to a lower standard for whatever reason.

This is an unfair, inaccurate characterization. What does he do? He parties hard. Yeah, he comes off as a frat boy, but the dude stays out of trouble. You may not like it, but at least he doesn't go around beating women, doing drugs, and coming to work unprepared. Jesus, even Belichik tolerates him.
Crucified? Maybe he should get some heat for being immature but he doesn't beat women or drive around drunk. He's not a locker room cancer and prior to that dirty hit he didn't have a reputation for cheap shots. I get that ppl will make it about race in today's world but there are players that deserve to be crucified and he's not one of them. Now he's a cocky player but so is Antonio Brown who stepped on a punter's head. Let's not blow one terrible cheap shot in 8 season's out of proportion.
I don't think Gronk should be crucified, but I think his cheap, dangerous shot warranted more than a one game suspension.
You disagree ant that is fine. We just differ on opinions. No big deal.
