And not that long ago you were saying Smith was playing well because Harbaugh committed to him and made it clear he had. I pointed out then he hadn't and that it wasn't that long before Kaepernick might take the job.

don't confuse Mitch with things he said earlier which completely contradict his point.

I told you guys weeks ago the local media was saying it might not be that long, next year for sure we're he's threatening Smith's job.

He's not polished yet but what they like is his stronger arm it opens more stuff of play action.

He's REALLY improved since they drafted him.

You're just gobble gobbling as a jive turkey gobbler.

Heard Tedford was fired today. Who's next for Cal?
Here's another example of QB play directly affecting the perception of a coach. Tedford was regarded as an offensive and QB guru when he had Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller, and Aaron Rodgers, all 1st rounders.

Suddenly he has guys like Ayoob, Longshore, and Maynard and now he's fired. I don't knw all the ins and outs behind his firing but alot of NFL talent has gone through Cal lately. Too bad shoddy QB ruined it.

The two QBs I liked most in that draft were Kaep and Dalton. Both of them went right before we took Ryan Williams. :| IIRC, the niners jumped us with a trade to pick Kaep.

Dalton is a smart, smart dude...

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Clancy on the list they apparently like what he's done with the defense.

No idea, they want more offense so I would expect an offensive coach.

Tedford's career at Cal has this crazy parallel with Ben Howland at UCLA. rebuilds program, gets it right up at the top with success at one position, QB, and then the program falls off and inexplicably can't recruit the one position. At UCLA it's PG for Howland, at Cal it's QB for Tedford. really odd how all of a sudden he can't get a QB to save his life.

I took heat this pre-season for saying Kaepernick was going to get some good PT this year in SF.

Look---you know you and I see football in a totally different way---we have never agreed about anything---

I am not saying I am right and you are wrong---but, I get it---I am wrong and you are right. You win...there! Now go and win against someone else.

I merely pointed out that you blased Whiz for not supporting Skelton and used Smith as your perfect example of what a good coach does for his QB.

And now Harbaugh talks up kaepernick and you applaud that completely forgetting the implication to Smith.

I'm not talking about the actual QB's I'm saying you blasted Whiz for doing exactly what Harbaugh did and you're now lauding Harbaugh for doing it.

I just wish you could say I like John Skelton, I don't like Ken Whisenhunt and leave it at that. No problem at all with someone liking or disliking a player or coach it's all the stuff you create to justify it that I take issue with because you contradict yourself on it repeatedly. You don't have to justify why you like or dislike someone, but if you do, it ought to be consistent IMHO.

yep and Boller was terrible until Tedford got ahold of him for one year.

To me it's an example of a guy being very good at one job, offense, and not being good at everything else it takes to be a head coach. Cal has had some good not great defenses under Tedford, and some good players on both sides of the ball. RB's OL etc.

But he just wasn't cut out to be a HC and recruit and do all the other things. In the end he couldn't keep getting QB's.

Very weird though. Good guy but his time had come.

They had a 3 minute segment on Comcast last night about the whole thing and Eric Davis said it's been the talk for weeks in the locker room that if Smith hadn't played so well against... us, we'd have already seen more of Kaepernick.

The thing is harbaugh REALLY likes the kid. Last year he looked terrible in the preseason but you could see the arm and the running ability. he has REALLY improved under Harbaugh, he absolutely looks like an NFL QB now.

Won't be at all surprised if he's the starter next year.

I would gladly trade Kolb for him today straight up and throw in a 3rd rounder.

I don't think Kolb and two 1rsts would do it. :bang:

Was talking to my buddy from Reno (who is also a Niners fan) "Man.. why didn't the Cardinals draft him?" he asks me... Think I hung up on him at that point. :D
