Next stop, Hall of Fame!
Maybe we should raid the SF coaching staff and make the QB coach our OC....
I was intrigued by this kid coming out but he was no sure thing (and still isn't). Last night he showed progress but in the NFL you see it all the time where a guy has a really good game followed by a horrendous game.
He is young, mobile, has a cannon and has, in Whiz's terminology, "moxie". At the time he was drafter I would have liked the Cards to take a flyer on the kid but not as high as SF did.
Too soon to annoint but he looks like he has the tools to be really good.
I'll admit to being a Kaepernick homer, and I'm by no means "crowning him" But damn, When is the last time you saw one our QB's hit his third read multiple times?
Smith might not get his job back if Kaepernick keeps this up.
Maybe we should try and get Smith? Is he better than any of the rookies coming out in the draft? Is he worth a #1 pick of the Cards? I do not even know his age so this is just talk. SF looks like a Superbowl team to me. Not one but two good QBs and an awesome defense who are mostly young.
without jim harbaugh, alex smith is nothing.
and their cadre of good WRs.
What I like about Harbaugh's statement---"we will go with the hot hand"---is that it is definitive and proactive rather than ambiguous or guarded.
2009?
Leinart was doing it his rookie year until his shoulder got blowed up & he was never the same.
There's a lot to like about Kaepernick---what he lacks for in throwing mechanics he makes up for in timing and in athleticism. He took some hits too---and it didn't seem to rattle him.

it's only definitive if he start Kaepernick, no? It's a COMPLETELY amibguous and guarded statement. You know what's not guarded and ambiguous? Simply saying: Kaepernick will continue to start for us.

You can argue that the Niners better line creates that luxury.. but then you go back and watch the tape, and realize Kap created a lot of that extra time, by knowing what to do in a pocket.

I don't really see it like that. The easiest thing in the world would have been for Harbaugh to say well we'll have to evalute Smith's health this week and see how he looks in practice before I can make any kind of decision, a player doesn't lose his job becaue of injury, ect ect. He took the whole injury situation out of the equation entirely and flat out said he's going with the guy that is hot right now.
While Harbaugh did stop short of saying that is Kaepernick I think it's fairly obvious given the guy just lit up one of the top defenses in the NFL like a Christmas tree last night that is the way he is going to go.

Not that I am a Harbaugh fan, although honestly, I would be if he were on our side.
And not that long ago you were saying Smith was playing well because Harbaugh committed to him and made it clear he had. I pointed out then he hadn't and that it wasn't that long before Kaepernick might take the job.

Ryan Lindley was a career 55% passer which included many non-powerhouse opponents and creampuffs.
Based on his pre-season and Falcon's performance, there is nothing to make anyone think (except for Whisenhut) that Lindley can suddenly develop into a mid 65% passer with any accuracy beyond the 25-30 yard pass since he completed very few of those in college. If Lindley stays consistent with his college abilities, he won't be long as a starter or a prospect.
And to think the Cards could have drafted Kaepernick two years ago.
Heard Tedford was fired today. Who's next for Cal?
I will reserve judgment for when there is actually tape for teams to prepare with.
