Well, Josh McDaniels is the next Head Coach of the New England Patriots.....whenever Belichek leaves that is, because he is not getting a head coaching job anywhere else.

Cannot believe some wanted this guy here in AZ. Tiger doesn't change his stripes.

Belichick will be 66 going into next season. I didn't realize he was that old.

The Patriots have a better owner and organization than the Colts who have become a mess. Even with the sky high expectations it is a better job than the Colts.

The whole thing is being overblown. A valued employee was leaving for a position elsewhere and their current employer made a counter offer to retain them. It happens everyday.

History has shown, once Parcells/Belichek leave your organization, it doesn't end well. The last few times it has been a "when the cats away the mice will play" situation.

I would be shocked if Josh McDaniels can command the same respect that Belichek did, and if he can deal with Robert Kraft who has had a lot of success, but is an owner known to meddle too much with his team.

We will see, but McDaniels just created career suicide, IMO. I would not hire him if he paid me to hire him, and when I say hire him, I mean not even to run an ice cream stand.

Would he be willing to go back? Indy fired his buddy Chuck. Arians initially didn’t want the AZ job until his fired buddy Whisenhunt convinced him otherwise. At least that was how he told it.

It seemed as if every one on this board knew this was coming. (Must be The Belichick Curse).

and Irsay being an "interesting" owner

Without a doubt......but Irsay being a tool, doesn't really effect McDaniels his reputation for being very unprofessional. Plus, McDaniels agreed to the job with the "interesting" owner at one point, so there is that.

I think the Colts dodged a bullet.

Agreed. And what is even more scummy is started assembling his staff. Now Indy is stuck with them. Major douchebag move. Pats should have to forfeit a first to Indy

Indy isn't necessarily "stuck" with them. They said they would honor the contracts signed...They don't necessarily have to keep them on the new coaches staff...Similar to Bidwill and the coaches contracts he honored, in AZ, when Arians retired. They'll get paid, but may not be with the team.

This is very true. Irsay is Bananas. Until he is calling shots they will be a bad franchise.

Then why agree in the first place? Why have Indy sign coaching staff? If you were that concerned about Irsay, why bother interviewing with them?

Go Colts trade your #1 for BA that would be nice.

That would be ... one of the greatest trade aways by the Cards XD.

McDaniels being a douche and Irsay being Bananas are two distinct things.

Being Bananas mean you try to recruit to mcDaniels and sign the coaching staff before head coach is inked no?

A quick question. If you agreed to another job, verbally-but nothing in writing, but then your old boss offers you a substantial raise and your wife says, honey, I don't really want to move. We are settled here, the kids love it, etc. Let's stay.

What would you do?

If you have a verbal with a coach you can't officially sign, and he has said "sign these guys today" and agrees to the presser, then backs out, that's on McDaniels.

And if I had already convinced several of my co-workers to jump ship with me, and they signed contracts and can't back out...

That part is the ultimate douchebaggery. Not sure why people are seeing that. And this isn't just any job.

I would ask my wife what the hell is she doing bringing it up now, and not before I went to the 2 or 3 interviews and accepted the position.

As for the old job ? Too little, too late.

McDaniel is wrong 100% in this situation. I only lay some blame on Colts for not waiting until they inked the paperwork with Daniels.

But Irsay is a crazy owner to work for given history of drug use and drug-filled twitter use.
