His former agent

Well, this same agent has now signed and dropped Josh twice...so I think, just maybe, Josh was never sold completely on the Colts and his agent, who was representing both sides, talked him into it...

Truth is we will never really know. Personally O think Josh, the agent, the Colts and Pat's are all to blame on some level.

Heard a story about Lamonte last night on Fox Radio. Lamonte is a back stabber and a liar. Lamonte was playing a pro am golf outing with the brother of Steve Gorman, Jim Gorman, the host, who was unknowingly playing with Jim who was a front office employee at the time. He casually bragged to Jim Gorman that he had lied to Jim Irsay about a phantom offer for a player the Colts were pursuing at that time. He was lying to the Colts in order to up the Colt's offer for the player. Gorman jumped on the phone to relate the story to Jim Irsay. End of any offer for said player by Irsay yet Gorman is still Chris Ballard's agent. Strange bedfellows.
See my latest comment. I think the agent stood the most to lose and was trying to make a marriage work that one side never really wanted.

Envy runs rampant in the NFL. Sustained excellence.

The media thrives on controversy and this event is not as controversial as made out to be. Season is over and the talking heads are picking the pile over for some story lines.

BTW, anyone know who these potential assistants are that were affected?

Searched these guys.

Matt Eberflus would have gone from Cowboy's LB coach to Colts DC.

Dave DeGuglielmo Dolphin's O Line coach BTW Dolphin's o line sucked. Fired by Pat's and Scarnecchia brought back. 6 teams in 9 years.

Mike Phair former U of Illinois O line coach under Lovie Smith who probably will not be HC for long or not.

These guys are gypsies who are attempting to climb the coaching ladder. Would have been a promotion for all of them. Unfortunately they jumped ship from jobs before Josh signed.

It turns out that Bill Belichick was reportedly a big factor in Josh McDaniels’s decision to pull out of the Indianapolis Colts job at the last second.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Belichick promised McDaniels in a Tuesday morning meeting that he would be more active in mentoring his offensive coordinator, including spending more time on the Patriots’ roster construction and handling of the salary cap. McDaniels viewed this as “extremely valuable,” a source told Reiss, even if he wasn’t given iron-clad assurances that he will be Belichick’s eventual successor.

McDaniels also appreciated the stability that the Patriots offered, which would allow his children, the oldest of which being 12, the chance to stay in the same school for the foreseeable future.

Reiss notes that McDaniels had been ready to take the Colts job as of Tuesday morning, but the Belichick meeting swayed him. He also says that, had McDaniels had all this information during the entire interview process, he’d have likely handled things differently. That last bit certainly lends some credence to the theory that owner Robert Kraft was trying to stick it to a rival after letting this go on for a while.

While McDaniels hasn’t been named coach-in-waiting, it certainly sounds like the Patriots would like such an arrangement to happen. They’re just not marrying themselves to it."

Right conference, wrong division. Childish taunt.

Deflategate.

And that is why this is so shady, IMHO. Josh got them to quit their jobs with a promise to be on his staff

My new theory on why Josh bolted;

Colts draft #3 in upcoming draft. Nearly every mock had them taking Saquon Barkley. Not the Patriots way. Trade down to a QB hungry team for multi picks. Irsay says no. Josh says Bye Bye.

Belichick lost his lackey in Patricia, so he needs one now

Frank Reich hired as HC...If he ever shows up in Indianapolis...
So the Eagles lost OC and QB coach

Think they wish they had Reich leave first so they could have promoted DeFilipo?
