"Intelligent" and "Laker fans" do not belong in the same sentence.

They think Gasol can help lead them to the Finals :biglaugh:..Dude is 0-12 in the post season.

:lmao:

Talk about a logical fallacy.

Gasol has never had Fisher, Odom or KB.

You do realize that Gasol is at best the 2nd option, and more likely the third option (behind a healthy Bynum) on the team. Gasol isn't going to lead the Lakers, however Kobe Bryant is, and last time I checked the guy has 3 rings. I will refrain from Finals success smack because of the respect I have for many posters here, but I find it a little funny that a Suns fan can be so dismissive about Kobe, Fisher and Phil Jackson's playoff resumes.

I am not expecting a Laker championship this year, as there are way to many variables. However, I think if all the cards fall correctly they have as good a chance as anyone. Plus, next year they will be pretty tough to beat.

You act like Odom has ever done anything. He's been out of the 1st round once (w/Miami), and then smacked around by the Suns the other times.
Same with Kobe, he hasn't been in the 2nd round post-Shaq.
Prove it, first.

AND....Lamar can slide to the #3/#4 option on the team. A role he is certain to excel in!

Did I miss the Suns Championship parade?

Not to be jerk or anything, but I just don't get the dismissive arrogance. I haven't seen one Laker fan here pipe up about the Lakers winning the championship this year. However, you have come off pretty threatened. You must be a little worried, since you are trying so hard not to act so.

Talk about living in a glass house.

I know it is easy to be angry that the Lakers made a trade equivalent to the Suns shipping off Brian Skinner and Alando Tucker for Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby.

Some owners are in it to win it. Some are not.

See you in May.

Alright - It seems the Lakers fans are coming out of the woodwork so I will have to drive home a point.

I like this trade for the Lakers. Take that back. I love this trade for the Lakers. This is a chance you HAVE to take and I love what KupKake has done with this team, including signing Fisher, and drafting Farmar and Crit.

HOWEVER

Laker fans take note. We have kicked your a$$ out of the playoffs the last two years and while we may not have rings yet, I don't really care what you have done in the past. You know what kind of loser fan bases yuk up their past championships? Miami Dolphin fans.

You're better then that.

With out current cast you have yet to beat us when it counts. And as formidible as Gasol looks on paper I too have doubts on his ability to coexist with Bynum in the paint. Plus it was reported yesterday Bynum might be out for the season and trading Gasol for Bynum = 1st round playoff fodder.

I said it once and I will say it again. This is our chance to make one final run. If we don't it this year it won't happen. But I do like our chances. The Lakers will take time to gell anyway so its no sure thing they will beat us when we meet them.

And recent history has shown that they can't step on our neck when handed the opportunity.

Remains to be seen if 08' will be much of the same.

^ Well said prove it when it counts, Playoffs, which is a long way from Bynum playing well to START the season. Lets see how the Lakers look come playoff time, could go either way imho.

Maybe not here, I honestly haven't read this thread much at all. But overall, you're on crack if you haven't seen Laker fans claim they are "Finals appearance or bust"
I'm far from threatened, I just find it funny how Gasol is suddenly the 2nd coming of an all time great because he went to LA, which he is far from.

Championship parade? At least prove you're better then a first round exit. (LA post-Shaq)

Also, I'm not trying to say Gasol isn't good, he can play, but he isn't what a lot of Laker fans are making him out to be..I doubt he can help lead them to a title now, this year. He's a natural playoff choke, 0-12......IDC what team you're on or if you've been an 8 seed, not even the ********* of playoff teams do that 3 straight seasons, not to mention his playoff #'s are laughable for an 'all-star'

I've heard this "Bynum might be out for the season" talk from a couple boards now but no source. Where are you guys hearing this? All my stupid laker fans friends are saying he's on schedule.

Arizona stupid laker fans, sorry for being so rude I have a condition where I can't say the L word without adding stupid.

I agree with you. However, there wasn't any chest beating or smack talking until some posters started in with homophobic style nicknames (Seriously Gaynum is the best he could come up with?) and ridiculous playoff success smack.

As of right now, nobody knows who will come out of the West. Suns will be there, Spurs will be there, Lakers have a shot if Bynum comes back healthy. Not to mention Dallas, N.O., Utah, etc.

I personally can't wait until the playoffs. Hell in the West there will be teams on the outside looking in that are legitimately good teams.

Fans are fans bro. Rockets fans were saying they are going to win it all at the beginning of the season. With that said, I think most of the people on this board (Suns and Lakers fans) have proven to be classy and intelligent, and able to talk about the NBA in a less homerish vein than the average fan.

Rotoworld.com has it sourced from the Friday Night ESPN NBA broadcast crew. True story.

There is no substance in the media to this report.

Bucher mentioned the possibility the day of the Gasol trade. However, he is the only one 'reporting' it. The Lakers have been on record since then refuting the report, and saying he is still on schedule to be back in mid March.

As the best NBA insider in the game today, Bucher is probably right about 30% of the time. ;)

See us in May?

06/07
Suns defeat Lakers 4-1 in Western Conference First Round
05/06
Suns defeat Lakers 4-3 in Western Conference First Round

^ LOL, ok. I'm down.

You really cant agree that the 07-08 Suns are worse than those two teams and that the 07-08 Lakers arent better than there previous iterations?

May I remind you that Smush Parker was our starting freaking PG?!? ;)

lol, but Smush did this! http://youtube.com/watch?v=RxxKIjefbTk

And I know the Suns aren't as good as last year, and LA isn't as bad...but I'd still like to see it, just like I won't say the Suns can beat SA in a 7 game series..I wanna see it.

Who's to say the Suns aren't better than they were last year? We don't know if they are or not yet, Skinner & Hill > Kurt & JJ imho we have yet to see how good this team will be

We aren't as good. Rebounding isn't mediocre, it's horrific now, offensive efficiency is down from last year (116.1 - 115.0), but still #1 in the NBA, defensive efficiency has been up and down, but as of now, slightly better then last year (.4 better; 107.7 - 107.3)

I won't doubt em though, still got 33 games remaining, lot of time.

Way too much time left for anyone to make any educated guess in the West. Injuries and seeding are going to be huge. Injuries are always an issue. However, this year the seeding is going to be the biggest determining factor. With 10 or so teams seperated by less than 10 games right now, it is impossible to predict who will make up the playoff field, much less what those matchups will be. Should be a hell of a ride though.

Per our discussion about Gasol f itting in, I have to say watching him last night, after only 2 days with the team convinced me even more that it was a great move. Here is what Kobe said:

"I watched him play so many times, I know his skill level and what he can do, and this offense is perfect because he can showcase his versatility as opposed to being in Memphis where he had to hug the post or go out and set pick-and-rolls," Bryant said. "Here, he's being asked to make plays and asked to make decisions with the basketball, and he can showcase a little more of what he has, which is what he does for the Spanish national team. He's an incredible player. He makes everybody's life easier. It makes the game simple. It's fun."

Now with Shaq on the Suns and hopefully a healthy Bynum on the Lakers, the West became a whole lot more interesting. As a basketball fan, I am so fired up, I can hardly stand it!!!!!
