Ya well you were probably one of the people that applauded when Kent Graham went down....:jedi:

Nope don't applaud any injury... But funny is funny... Laughing at a joke that makes light of a poopy situation doesn't mean you are rooting for said injury or you're glad it occurred. Just means you have a sense of humor and can see some light in the darkness.

I don't know if this would work, but if I am BA, I am requiring ALL players to wear knee braces in every practice and every preseason game. If they think it hurts them in meaningful games, fine, take them off. But as long as there is no need for a competitive advantage over an opponent, every single knee is getting supported from now on.

Why not just put all knees in a lock-box until opening day ???

I'm a fan of gallows humor. It is in poor taste, yes, but sometimes you need to find humor in the worst of situations in order to process it and move on.

I am too but I'm less fond of lazy cheap shots.

Anyone confused as to why a lot of these severe non-contact injuries are happening with the frequency they are?

I am. By NFL math, I should have torn an ACL at least 2 or 3 times by now. Growing up, playing sports, just being a little kid playing tag in the neighborhood, playing street football. I should have seen dozens of ACLs torn in my lifetime. I've never seen it once in person. Sure these aren't hard core NFL level activities - but neither is it in the NFL when it's non-contact. Hell, Mike Toler was just walking when he blew his ACL. My neighbors should be dropping like flies walking to the mailbox! So yeah, it doesn't add up.

That day that you and your neighbours train your lower limbs to their peak strength and conditioning; make hard use of them almost every day - there will be some of you dropping on the way to the mailbox.

You might be on to something there. I wonder if it has something to do with the way they train their legs now? I don't remember this happening in the 80's. Now it may have been happening and I just wasn't paying attention. That could be. I just don't remember it at all. Alot of people blame it on PEDs. The ligaments can't handle the extra weight. And that makes sense. But PEDs were rampant in the 80s too. Alot of guys had body builder physics. Either way, it probably is just a daily wear and tear on the ACL to the point where they're just ready to go at any moment. If that's the case, I wonder if that's something they could monitor before it gets to be a problem.

I am reminded of a humorous comment made by hall of fame player, Art Donovan... "We didn't even have 'cruciates' back when I played"

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think this is it. Since most of the ACL tears occur with innocuous events such as turning or planting, that means the ACL was already on the verge of tearing and the turn or plant was the final straw. So that would mean every team has 5+ or so guys walking around with ticking time bomb ACLs that can go at any time. How did it get to that point? It has to be the training. Maybe it's a specific leg machine? Maybe it's just too much training? But if there are 5+ guys walking around with ticking time bomb ACLs, wouldn't teams want to know? Maybe they don't. Or maybe they already do. (This is where I would put the tinfoil hat emoji.)

My buddy ruptured his achilles last weekend. He took 2 steps to jump in the pool. Heard a snap & it wasn't there anymore.
