I think you & others that liked this might need to come to realization that we’re not getting a 1st rounder for Hopkins.
You have no idea what we can and might get for him. All it takes is one desperate team, or a team that convinces themselves they are desperate. Plus you have the "Well, it's Arizona" response to explain away his problems. I'm not saying we will get a 1, but I'm not ruling it out either.

Sanu was traded for pick #55...

Hopkins will get more than that. Especially as the Cards eat a lot of his salary. The team trading for him gets a top 10 WR and only pays an average of $17m per season over the next 2 years. That's WR20 money.

That alone bumps up the cost.

I’m confident as hell we’re not getting a first round pick in return.

And Amari Cooper, who is a much better WR than what Sanu was at that time, was traded for a 5th round pick.

Only people that expect we’re getting a 1st round pick in return are people on here or Cardinal fans on Reddit. Hell, I’m pretty sure no one here would trade a 1st for Hopkins if he was on another team right now with the same problems he has had the past few years here.

I don't know if he's get a 1st because I think his value is probably a low 1st and that's only a handful of teams. But I can see the overall value being equivalent to a low first per value charts.

And Chase Claypool just cost pick #32.

Both Cooper and Claypool were bad trades for different reasons.

Both only prove we have no idea what Hopkins will go for.

I think at best Hopkins gets a 2. I wouldn't be shocked if he's traded for a 3 and a 4.
If - as is being touted - KC are in play for him, I can see something along the lines of pick 63, pick 122 plus swapping our projected 6th round picks (picks 197 & 213). But that is a pure guess on my part.

In that article, one of the points he uses is D Hops no trade clause, which people on here say he lost because of his suspension.

I agree, but at the same time Hop is totally worth a first. Since you likely can’t get that for him, keep him. Obviously he’s got to want to be here, but why would you ever trade a WR of his caliber for a random 2nd or 3rd rd pick? The value just isn’t there.

The only reason is cap relief.

Keim painted us into a corner with that extension. It wasn't a great one and was a desperate move by Keim.

And now as a whole the roster isn't in great shape and there isn't a whole lot of cap room to rebuild it.

Recovering value is another. Look at the Julio Jones and Matt Ryan trades.

Sadly, I think you’re correct. Although, if it’s KC, and I could see them being interested, it’ll be a late 2nd & then I believe they have two 4th’s. So it may not be a late 4th.

I think people are correct in saying we might be able to get a late first if we are willing to take a big chunk of his salary somehow. Otherwise we can probably get a 2nd rounder and its a good idea to move on.

Next season is lost. Kyler injured, complete overhaul of the team....in the best case scenario we win maybe 6 games next year. I think the best route is to try and cram as much of the rebuild into 2023 as possible. Trade players that we can for picks. Cut others to get out of contracts and just eat the dead money....don't spread it around. Maybe this year we dont get any big FA's...but we have the #3 pick, so we can still bring in quite a bit of talent.
