If James Jones continues to be making the decisions, I fully expect the Suns to immediately turn around after that KD trade and send whatever draft capital they have accumulated, plus Kuminga and Dunn, to the Clippers for Kawhi Leonard.

The following day, the Suns will announce that Kawhi is not only out for the rest of 2025, but also all of 2026. And JJ will proclaim how very excited he is about the Suns' prospects for the 2027-2028 when their new "big three" will all be able to get the senior discount at Denny's.

He's a pain in the butt but Draymond is still a great defensive player. If you saw the end of the game against the Magic he came in with them behind and on the next 5 possessions he ended up guarding the Magic guy with the ball and either forced a miss or a turnover every time. It was unreal, stoned Banchero twice, actually made him walk both times no call and miss. It was absolutely textbook defense. Won the game doing it

Draymond Green is another name being floated for Durant. The salaries of Green and Kuminga would work.

The Suns should want picks to go along with such a trade, not that I'm enthused about it.

He brutalized Ayton in that first round in 22. But I feel like he’s just as bad defensively as Nurk. For sure better in the post on offense than Nurk though.

I’d be thrilled with a swap but I don’t think sending sending them picks to make it work helps our outlook at all.

I hope that the Suns are not stupid enough to add a 1sz rounder to the swap of Nurkic/Valanciunas.

Valanciunas might or might not be a better player than Nurkic, he is cheaper for sure but this is not worth a 1st rounder.

There are a lot of trade rumors floating around out there that don't make a lot of sense until one looks at salaries.

The Suns supposed interest in Draymond Green is surprising.

Also, rumors indicate Butler only wants to be traded to Phoenix.

It's probably going to take multi-team trades to make things work.

Geez, trading Durant for Butler (and some picks) would be the most stupid thing even at Suns' standards.

Durant is a better player and s our only potent frontcourt player while Butler would just create even bigger logjam at the wings.

Since our 1st rounders are gone, this would be a surefire recipe for as long and as painful rebuilding as possible.

I think that's worth exploring. Butler has a fire that KD doesn't and regardless of which position KD is labeled as, he's not a frontcourt player that battles for rebounds, fights in the paint, or does much of anything typical frontcourt players do.

KD might be a better individual talent but Butler, when focused, is a much better leader. That's what this team needs. As long as we don't lose draft picks, I'd not only welcome the swap but would be happy to see it.

I'm not saying this trade will lead to a championship but it moves us closer to watchable on a regular basis.

Yeah, if the Suns trade Durant they should be looking to get draft picks and young players in return.

However, the Suns may be too far along in the trade process for Butler to turn back now.

Butler has played a lot of PF in Miami. He's no more a true PF than KD but he's a better one on one defender who doesn't need to rely on his length to swat shots because he doesn't let people by him. Butler next to Dunn in the frontcourt would be fine. Butler will at least battle for rebounds.

We have no chance at a championship as constructed. KD is quickly leading us to the lottery. It was a mistake to trade for him. I'm not saying Butler will perform better but I can't see it being worse.
