Is Rosa going to be a threat to you guys in AZ? I see it's supposed to go right over the Phoenix area. Being so dry can it cause flooding problems? I know here on the East coast, the hurricane caused tremendous flooding.

Wow. Never thought hurricanes in AZ. If it is wet does it have a positive effect on the eco system?

Drainage systems get overwhelmed pretty quickly when it pours like this. The lifted 4x4 crowd loves it!

I have to take a special route to work on days like this because I drive a pretty low profile car and one of the main intersections I go through never drains and gets almost a foot deep for nearly a half mile!

Well, I don't think we are getting a hurricane here, just the remnants of one (tropical depression?). Where I'm at, just a drizzle type of rain, and lots of overcast, so far.
Looking outside now, reminds me of fall/winter weather, although not cold.

It was a steady last nigh here in Buckeye, kind of on and off now but expecting more which is good cuz we need it. My backyard is sort of flooded since it's so dry there's no run off lol

dude...the desert reacts beautifully to a heavy rain...bleak burnt and brown one moment,...then suddenly everything is yellow and purple and red as far as the eye can see...really amazing how quickly desert plants react to getting a good watering.
of course..it helps the water table a little bit too

The 51 was a disaster this morning! Lanes on both sides of the highway were completely flooded. I heard the 17 was even worse. Took me 1 hour and 25 mins to get to work when it normally takes 45 mins at the most.

Much of the west, in particular the southwest, remains in a persistent drought to severe drought, depending on the location. This batch of rain is very much needed and will absolutely help. We will still be in a drought condition, however, there is more rain forecasted for this coming Sunday and Monday.
The Sonoran Desert always responds beautifully to rains... but the real visual magic will come in March/April/May when the multitude of cacti bloom with truly the most amazing colors you'll ever see!

Luckily its slow and steady so that prevents a lot of the issues outside of the 51 and 17. The massive fast downpours in monsoon season cause more problems. Luckily I don't have any freeway driving to get to work.

Well I'm glad to hear you could use the rain out there. Just watch those flooded areas, they will bite you in the butt every time.

So far Octobers rainfall has matched the entire monsoon rainfall at sky harbor.
