So, this may be a lame post but I'm drunk and it seems interesting to me right now. After a night of drinking (in San Diego where I live), I ended up at some Filipino restaurant with about 80 Filipinos and one other white guy. He happened to be at my table and after about one hour, out of nowhere, he asks me "So what are the Suns doing?"
I made no mention of being a Suns fan. Maybe he saw the dejected look on my face and knew I must be "one of them" but it was really strange since I said nothing about the Suns. I swear, the Suns are "America's basketball team" if there is such a thing. Everybody I run into roots for them and, frankly, it feels pretty good after years of Bulls and Lakers talk.
It was very painful trying to explain why the Suns were selling picks and hoping for a SF that I don't think they will sign, but I was still proud to be a fan of a team that is the only thing keeping casual fans' interest in basketball. If only they could make that move that would transform them from contenders to Goliaths.
