My son is a Patriots fan and is headed into his third year of playing football so I took the 75 minute drive to Foxboro yesterday to view their training camp.
1) It was super crowded, I don't know how TCs are in AZ, but this one had to have had at least 10,000 people.
2) The Patriots do a wonderful job of providing an interactive experience for their fans. It was an awesome experience to get so close to the action. They also have a lot of activities for kids as well.
3) The practice fields are just outside of Gillette Stadium and they are beautiful, as is Gillette Stadium.
4) Their fans were great, it was a Friday and the Pats still drew a huge crowd. It was also 80 degrees and sunny so the weather was beautiful.
5) After the practice, selected players went around and signed some autographs. The players were great with the fans, took their time and tried to get as many things signed as they could.
6) As many of you know I am not a huge Pats fan, but I was very impressed by the organization and the experience and am glad I went. It was a lot of fun.
As for some things I saw
The Patriots are a very disciplined team, even in practice. Brady looked sharp, Gronk was dressed, but I did not see him run any drills (not saying he didn't just saying I didn't see if he did). Mallet has a huge arm. Garapollo looked like a rookie. He under threw a few balls and had a pick that I saw and struggled in the red zone on the 7 on 7 drill I saw, but he also did a good job of sticking with it.
I know this is an Arizona Cards forum and I will always be a die hard Cards fan, but I thought you guys may be interested in getting a TC perspective on another team. Anyways here are the pics.
