Ouch. Ted Ginn's back up punt returner for the 9ers. Not one, but 2 mess ups. Feel sorry for the guy.

Couldnt have happened to a better guy :)

Some poetic justice that my most hated rival in college screwed it up big time for my most hated rival in the NFL.

And did it against us in college too. Thanks Kyle!

K. Williams, Be Afraid. There is a Pattern Forming...

Tough town for that to happen. First, the preseason OAK/SF violence. Then apparently the NFL requested that undercover cops dress up as Giants fans to bait the bad seeds. Then they stop serving liquor before halftime last night.

All this tells me that there is a unstable, and sizable, subset of Niner "fans" who might just do something stupid. Some of them might even be on the official board, because there were plenty of posts calling for his death, with apparently no consequence. That kind of crap would never fly here.

Nobody, player or fan, should be threatened with death over a game.

This is common place in soccer and I can't help but wonder if that attitude is seeping into football now.

California has had a large influx of fans from Mexico, Central America, and South America where game violence (soccer) is much more commonplace?

It's way more than that Chris... much deeper rooted. Particularly since that influx you reference has all but dried up over the past 4 years or so due to the economy. Nobody is rushing into Cali when there's no jobs to be had.
The roots of this problem (that exist in all stadiums, but to a lesser extent for the most part), weave their way back for almost 2 decades now and reflect changes in Socio-economic conditions across the country (the world for that matter).
Historical social norms have been steadily eroded over this time. Family structures have been altered (perhaps permanently). Social behavior has been altered in a way where historical common decency and respect for people and property has been reduced to dangerous levels. Add in a brutal recession and a country that is as divided as it has ever been, and voila... a perfect storm...

I see your point 82. This discussion is a nice mix between P&R and Football. Will leave in here for now, but could see how it could end up there.

I can't read lips or anything but the muddahship keeps playing that clip over and over in slow motion where Kyle says to the ref ..."Are you kidding me?"

Since it's in slow motion I keep imagining his voice going super low and stretched out, Aaaarrrreee yyyyyyyyyoouuuu Kiiiiddddiiinnnnggg mmmmmeeeeeee?
No love for a niner, even if he had some Az roots. Glad these bums are out of the play offs so I guess I owe one Kyle Williams my gratitude.

Man... if there was ever a time I wished I were wrong and didn't warrant a thumbs up, it would be now...
It's extremely sad to see the state of our country... really, the state of the world. It's hard to see how all of this is leading us toward a better place. But, I'm a man of faith, both in a higher power and in greater humanity. Goodness, common decency and respect for people, property and for all that freedom brings (including the right to disagree) will win out in the end. Ironing out the wrinkles along the way is very painful however... :(

Thumbs up in agreement only. Certainly nothing positive in the content of your post.

We have to take in account that there has been a significant change in the last few years in how people have been able to vent their anger. Because people have a platform like twitter to immediately share their opinions to the world in real time doesn't mean that if the same thing had happened thirty years ago that there wouldn't have been some crazy sports fans who would have felt the same way but didn't have a platform to share their overreaction. If twitter had been around at the time, I'm sure there would have been plenty of @ScottNorwood death threats flying about.

That's a good point. Social media provides a totally different complexion to this issue.
However, as someone who grew up going to Yankee, NY Giant, Knicks and Ranger games, the crap that takes place today in stadiums - particularly Candlestick and Dodger Stadium - is beyond the historical norms...

Agree with a lot of the opinions on voilent fans.

Talking with your buddies in privacy and being over-dramatic for the sake of shooting the bull is one thing.

It is another to broadcast it to the world, and at a person.

The game was lost, but it is just a game.

As stated before, he lost a football game, and gained 400k for the year.

JUST A GAME. Crazy how the perspective is still so out of whack after a recent lockout.
